Patent number: 11468039Abstract: Embodiments disclosed herein include methods and apparatuses for providing security to computer users with disabilities, who configure their computers to personalize output in a fashion that enables the user to more easily understand the content of the output. While previously a computer configured to personalize output accordingly may have served as a source of disability information to unauthorized parties accessing the computers, embodiments disclosed herein configure computers for personalization without leaving thereon a record how the personalization was specified during the configuration process. Thus, an unauthorized party gaining access to the user's computer would find it very difficult, if not impossible, to determine the user's disability from an inspection of the computer, so the user is much less likely to become a victim of fraud based on an unauthorized discovery of information regarding vulnerabilities.Type: GrantFiled: April 5, 2018Date of Patent: October 11, 2022Inventor: Lisa Seeman

Patent number: 10606896Abstract: A method for generating and presenting accessibility resolution models to accessibility problems is provided. The method may include detecting user behavior patterns associated with users. The method may further include generating user groups and subgroups based on the detected user behavior patterns. Additionally, the method may include identifying accessibility problems based on the detected user behavior patterns and the generated user groups and subgroups. The method may also include generating accessibility profiles based on the detected user behavior patterns, the generated user groups and subgroups, and the identified accessibility problems. The method may further include determining correlations between the generated accessibility profiles and business loss indicators.Type: GrantFiled: November 15, 2017Date of Patent: March 31, 2020Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Michal Broz, Steven D. Clay, John C. Sanchez, Richard S. Schwerdtfeger, Lisa Seeman, Shunguo Yan

Patent number: 7872637Abstract: A system and method for tracking a laser spot on a projected computer screen image computes a projective transformation matrix using the projected computer screen image electronically captured in a frame of image data. The projective transformation matrix is computed by fitting a polygon to a contour of each graphical object in the frame of image data and determining whether the polygon for each graphical object satisfies a set of predefined parameters to find a candidate polygon that corresponds to an outline of the projected computer screen image in the frame of image data.Type: GrantFiled: April 25, 2007Date of Patent: January 18, 2011Assignee: Avago Technologies ECBU IP (Singapore) Pte. Ltd.Inventors: Lisa Seeman, David Dolfi

Publication number: 20080091634Abstract: A source content enhancement system is described. A method for disambiguation of content and localization of culturally sensitive content including parsing content of an object for cultural objects and components, gathering knowledge about the object, inferring knowledge about the object, checking if the object is culturally appropriate, checking if the object and section of an object conform to local standards, and creating an adapted rendering of the object.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 15, 2007Publication date: April 17, 2008Inventor: Lisa Seeman

Publication number: 20070255697Abstract: A source content enhancement system is described. The source content enhancement system includes a knowledge engine and a knowledge store operatively connected to the knowledge interface engine. The knowledge engine includes a unit for formulating at least one query relating to at least one term, the unit being selected from the group consisting of a knowledge extension engine, a validation engine, and a third party specific interface and a knowledge interface engine for receiving at least one query from the unit, The knowledge store contains information associated with the at least one term in the query. The knowledge interface engine is capable of obtaining information from the knowledge store and of providing a response to the at least one query to the unit. A related apparatus and methods are also described.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 3, 2007Publication date: November 1, 2007Inventor: LISA SEEMAN

Publication number: 20050160065Abstract: A resource accessibility engine according to the present invention uses a resource-specific knowledge base and user preferences to convert a resource into an improved accessibility resource. Examples of a resource include a website, document, webpage image file, multimedia file, auditory file or any other text and/or non-text record. The resource-specific knowledge includes content and formatting information that reduces ambiguities, translates implied information into explicit information and improves the accessibility of the resource content. The user preferences represent the physical capabilities of the user's access device, and the user's semantic and personal preferences for how content should be displayed. An editor uses an annotation wizard to create the resource-specific knowledge base based on the original resource.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 4, 2004Publication date: July 21, 2005Inventor: Lisa Seeman
