Abstract: A teether is disclosed that is capable of retaining and presenting solid, cold, and/or damp food to a teething child. The teether has a top piece and a bottom piece. An opening in the top piece has a plurality of lobes and a like number of retaining teeth. The retaining teeth are configured to capture properly sized food, so that a teething child is able to gum or gnaw on the food, but not remove the food from the teether. If the child places too much force on the food, the food falls through the opening into a vessel, where is remains until removed by an adult.
