  • Patent number: 5989235
Abstract: The invention provides a drainage bag (colostomy, ileostomy or urostomy bag) comprising a bag of thermoplastic material having means to define an opening for receiving waste material from a stoma and means to secure the bag in place with the opening connected to the stoma, characterized in that at least the surface of the bag in contact with the skin of the wearer is flocked. Also described is an ostomy appliance comprising a re-usable outer bag and a disposable inner bag, means for securing the two bags together and to the stoma, means for inserting and removing the inner bag from the outer one, and means for closing, the outer bag once the inner one is in place, characterized in that at least the surface of the outer bag in contact with the skin of the wearer is flocked.

  • Patent number: 5928798
Abstract: A process for the manufacture of a multilayer cross-linked, heat-shrinkable, polyolefin film, said film having at least one inner layer comprising thermo-plastic polymer sandwiched between two outer layers comprised of thermoplastic polymer different from the thermoplastic polymer of said inner layer, comprising the steps ofa) coextruding the materials into a tape;b) cross-linking it;c) converting said cross-linked tape into a heat-shrinkable film by orientation;characterized in that scrap material produced in the manufacture or in the further processing to finished articles of cross-linked films of this same structure is incorporated by recycling it into said step a) in an amount up to 50% by weight of the total film weight.

  • Patent number: 5766772
Abstract: A multi-layer heat-shrinkable film endowed with high anti-fog properties, and having a barrier layer (1), an adhesive layer (2, 2'), and an adhesive layer (3, 3'), wherein at least one external layer (3, 3') is made of a polyolefinic polymer. Said anti-fog properties are obtained by incorporating in said film from 1 to 5% by weight of a composition comprising (i) a glycerol mono-ester of a saturated or unsaturated fatty acid having from 8 to 20 carbons, (ii) a glycerol di-ester of a saturated or unsaturated fatty acid having from 8 to 20 carbons, and (iii at least one polyoxyethylene ether of a fatty alcohol having from 8 to 20 carbons.

  • Patent number: 5605660
Abstract: A process for the manufacture of a multilayer, cross-linked, heat shrinkable, polyolefin film, the film having at least one inner layer including a thermoplastic polymer sandwiched between two outer layers including a thermoplastic polymer different from the thermoplastic polymer of the inner layer, including the steps of coextruding the polymers into a tape; cross-linking the tape; and converting the cross-linked tape into a heat shrinkable film by orientation; wherein scrap material produced in the manufacture of the heat shrinkable film is incorporated by recycling the film into the coextrusion step in an amount up to 50% by weight of the total film weight.

  • Patent number: 5306745
Abstract: A composition includes a blend of an additive, such as a fungicide, encapsulated in a first thermoplastic resin and a second thermoplastic resin which has a lower melting point than the first resin. During extrusion of the blend, the second resin melts and surrounds the encapsulated additive before the first resin melts. Thus composition is especially useful in combination with a multilayer film including a core layer made up of the composition, and respective further layers laminated to each side of the core layer. These films are useful in packaging articles such as fruits and vegetables to protect them from fungal infections.
