  • Publication number: 20120082283
Abstract: Method and devices for development of nuclear particle detectors, meant to operate in wide temperature range, with and without cooling that can be integrated in various arrays, able to identify radiation type and provide information on it's parameters as position, mass, energy, direction. The device will operate by enhancing the radiation detection by using materials that generates fission, transmutation and/or directly converting the energy of radiation into photonic or pressure waves, or into electricity, device acting on a plurality of conductor insulator junction making it able to identify radiation type, spectrum, direction and position usable for a large range of electronics from detectors to complex imagers. The method relies on an assembly of three components with generic function as generator, insulator and absorber, in different aggregation states, dimensioned by calculating the effective length for the specific moving entity i.e.

  • Patent number: 8067758
Abstract: The present (or current) nuclear shielding is bulky and difficult to handle due to the reduced stopping power of the neutral radiations (X, gamma, n) in materials. It is proven that these radiations are reflecting at grazing incidence angles on special substrates called super-mirrors that contain nano-layers of various materials. The usage of nano-structures in an ordered manner or of nano-tubes may create inside the nano-structure the super-mirror reflection conditions and makes these nano-structures act like wave-guide for this neutral radiation driving it and turning at angles greater than 90 degrees requiring a total thickness a few microns only. The usage of ferro or piezo electric nano-structures generates a “shield” structure that has the wave-guides inside with the path dependent on a control voltage.

  • Publication number: 20110079166
Abstract: A useful system for our transportation needs must be in concert with the ecological and economical needs of the future. The vehicle concept considers all the constrains imposed by battery materials, oil and electric energy availability and production capacity, electric grid power capability and will make transportation cheaper faster and more robust than the current system. The multi-feature vehicle is modular in design separating and placing optimally the functional modules so that many variations are easily possible allowing the range, carrying capacity and multi-modal transportation to be optimized. The multi modal transportation feature is a surrogate for the lack of battery capacity to cover the individual needs for transportation avoiding the need for large capital cost for large batteries and their maintenance. The vehicle may serve as backup power source during blackouts and uses own modular compactable solar energy harvesting devices.

The usage of ferro or piezo electric nano-structures generates a shield that has the wave-guides path dependent on a control voltage. The resultant device is a shield for nuclear reactor criticality control, minimizing the nuclear reactor shielding and making an electric control of the power level by adjusting the shielding transmission. Other devices as X, n imaging device, or radiation funneling to increase the efficiency of using thin absorbents are some of the potential applications.

  • Publication number: 20100313869
Abstract: The micro-flow hetero catalytic structure is developed in a complex catalytic reaction system electronically controlled that can handle simultaneously many reactants in the proper operation domain. A distributed electronic processing system based on anticipated parameters and controls the entire system optimal regime. The method of obtaining the optimal response from the catalysts is that of maintaining the thermodynamic operation parameters at right values by a set of heat exchangers, fans, valves and actuators in closed loops and processor control having the safety embedded. The applications are covering chemical synthesis, heating, air and gas cleaning, fuels and alcohol reforming.

  • Patent number: 7851761
Abstract: Multi-band polarized receiver-emitter THz domain visualization device that includes a group of elemental receiver units made from a resonant system sensitive to frequency and polarization, a micro-bead solid-state voltage amplifier in the gate of a differential FET system. The detection is based on the carrier perturbation method detected by a set of double gate comparator circuits that further generates an integrated signal driven to a digital analog converter. The signal from here is accessing event-based memory used to generate the 3D images. Multiple detection modules are coupled into a triangular detection element detecting a multitude of frequencies, in a cascade of bands from 2 mm to 1 micron. This THz chromatic detector is integrated in a surface morph array, or in an image area of a focusing device generating a pixel of information with band, amplitude, polarization and time parameters, driving to a complex 3D substance level visualizations.

  • Publication number: 20100061503
Abstract: Direct nuclear energy conversion into electricity device based on nano-hetero-structures with applications in nuclear reactors and radioisotope batteries. The nano structure may be made by a repeated customized sequence of nano-layers generically called “CIci” The structure may also be made by a series of structures evolved from CIci as nanoplasmon, nanowire, nano-tube. The Structure relies on knock on electron avalanche produced by stopping radiation that is generated by the high electron density conductor material “C” that tunnels through insulator “I” and accumulates in the low density conductor “c”. The “C” material is producing no electrons to cross the associate insulator “i” therefore remains negatively charged by the electron shower, and discharges through a resistor connected to th “C” later. The nanoplasmon structure exhibits thermal direct conversion properties by radiation switched mechanism that is generated by the plasmon-phonon resonance.

  • Publication number: 20070133733
Abstract: Devices for generating heat and electric energy by nuclear fission reactions. The device includes a cylindrical tube, and a drain tube disposed inside having openings along its length for receiving drain fluid. The device also includes means forming the fuel layer disposed within the operative portion of the tube. The fuel layer generates fission products and has a thickness smaller than the fission product range. Drain fluid passes over the surfaces of the fuel layer, collects the fission products for discharge therefrom. The fuel hetero-structure is formed from the fuel layer, an insulating material and a liquid. The insulating material has a repetitive structure that includes at least three layers and interacts with the fission products to generate electricity. One of the layers generates electrons showers that are converted into heat or electricity.
