    Abstract: A communication method and a communication apparatus are provided. The communication method includes: A first communication apparatus and a second communication apparatus determine a first identifier based on a second identifier, where a length of the first identifier is less than a length of the second identifier, and the second identifier is an identifier of the first communication apparatus. The second communication apparatus sends a first message; and correspondingly, the first communication apparatus receives the first message, where the first message includes the first identifier. The first communication apparatus wakes up. According to embodiments of this application, a quantity of bits occupied by the identifier of the first communication apparatus in the first message can be reduced, so that a capacity of the first message is increased, and the first message can be used to wake up more communication apparatuses.
