  • Patent number: 9919500
Abstract: An inner bypass duct of a gas turbine engine includes a plurality of non-structural front panels arranged circumferentially. Each front panel has an outer surface and an inner surface. The inner surface is at least partially covered by a composite structure. The composite structure includes a fireproof layer and an acoustic layer disposed between the fireproof layer and the inner surface. A non-structural panel for an inner bypass duct and a method of forming such panel are also presented.

  • Patent number: 9194296
Abstract: A bypass duct of a gas turbine engine has an inner bypass duct wall having a front end portion which is rigidly mounted to an engine core case and a rear end portion which is flexibly mounted to the core case. The flexible mounting between the rear portion of the inner bypass duct wall and the core case allows hot engine areas of the core case to thermally grow and contract relative to the inner bypass duct wall without imposing additional loads on the inner bypass duct wall.

  • Patent number: 8757540
Abstract: A nacelle inlet lip has a simplified geometry. The nacelle inlet lip has a constant cross-section all along a circumference thereof and is wholly concentric relative to the engine centerline, thereby allowing for the use of simple and economical manufacturing processes.

  • Patent number: 7850419
Abstract: The bleed valve actuating system is for use in a gas turbine engine. The system comprises an actuator mounted adjacent the engine case and having a main actuation axis extending generally parallel to a surface of the engine case. A drive rod extends from the bleed valve to the actuator generally perpendicularly with reference to the main actuation axis of the actuator. The drive rod connected to the actuator via a linkage mechanically connects the actuator to the drive rod. The linkage is configured to convert axial motion of the actuator along the main actuation axis into generally perpendicular motion of the drive rod.
