  • Patent number: 5170258
Abstract: A projection television system includes a projection unit having an optical element through which infrared television signals are received. The received signals are processed to provide a television image display which is projected for viewing. Received television signals from a TV station or cable are converted to infrared signals and transmitted along a given axis of an infrared transmission link extending between an infrared transmitter, remotely positioned from the projection unit, to an infrared detector, located in the projection unit. The detector converts the infrared TV signal into a video signal which signal is processed by the projection receiver to provide the image for display. The infrared transmitter, the optical element and the detector are aligned along a given axis which is also the optical axis of the system.

  • Patent number: 5077612
Abstract: A portable electronic picture recording device includes a camera, an A/D converter for converting the analog picture signal to digital picture data, a signal processing and control circuit for compressing the digital picture data for storage and for restoring the data on playback and for processing the picture signal frames in single-picture, multi-picture, and scene shooting (sequence) modes, an electronic memory having erasable, programmable, nonvolatile memory cells, and a D/A converter for converting restored digital picture data into analog output signals. The electronic memory has EEPROM cells formed at a high packing density with VLSI technology, so that the picture recording device can have camcorder-like functions without a moving storage medium and with comparatively low power consumption.

  • Patent number: 5059979
Abstract: A digital control circuit with a device for generating a high-resolution tuning voltage is suitable for use in receivers for RF signals, particularly in consumer equipment. The tuning voltage can be electronically switched from one value to another at a high speed. The transient time required with conventional control loops is nearly eliminated since the low-pass filter or the digital integrator is preset to its steady-state integration value. To generate the tuning voltage, dynamic digital-to-analog convertors are provided which, despite their high resolution, require only a smoothing filter with a short response time and a short time constant.

  • Patent number: 4959721
Abstract: A remote control system, particularly for television sets, includes a remote control receiver and a remote control transmitter. The receiver and transmitter are switched to the menu mode by means of a menu key. At least two menu fields are associated with the remote control receiver and are displayed on the screen of the television set. The menu fields are individually selectable by means of the remote control transmitter. The selection is preferably accomplished by manually aligning the remote control transmitter with the displayed menu field to be selected.

  • Patent number: 4905289
Abstract: A semiconductor read only memory (ROM) serves to store digitized audio signals in a redundancy free form. The output of the memory is coupled to the input of a data expander in the playback circuit. The memory may also store an algorithm which serves to control operation of the data expander before the signals are further processed via a digital-to-analog converter and where the output of the digital/analog converter is then coupled to the input of an analog amplifier and then to a loud speaker arrangement. In this manner, digitized audio signals can be operated on by either error correcting modules or data expansion modules, both of which modules may include microprocessors where the algorithms for control of the microprocessors are also stored within the read only memory. In this manner, all mechanical movements between the storage medium and the pick up devices, which are typical of the prior art, is eliminated as the main storage medium consists of a read only memory or a plurality of such devices.

  • Patent number: 4872060
Abstract: A deflection processor generates deflection signals such that the video information of the received signal is visible on the picture tube screen during all movements of the cathode ray beam. The video signal, after being digitized by means of a clock signal, is written into a random-access memory and is read therefrom in such a way that the individual pixels occupy the correct positions on the screen. This is done under control of a memory controller. The digital signals of the memory are applied to a tube-error-compensating stage and to the picture tube via digital-to-analog converters. This arrangement eliminates the rigid dependence on sawtooth deflection signals and permits the waveforms of the deflection signals to be freely selected according to requirements.

  • Patent number: 4729028
Abstract: The output signal of one tuner or of other TV signal sources in the base band are digitized and stored in a part of a memory. After automatic switching over to another TV-channel, this new signal is stored in another part of the memory and so on. The whole memory is then read out continuously and produces the displayed multipicture on the screen.

  • Patent number: 4625153
Abstract: A sensor system is adapted for use in automatically adjusting the deflection system of a television picture tube so as to compensate for pincushion distortion including a rectangular frame disposed along the edge of the screen within the sweep range of the electron beam. The frame comprises a striplike, regular arrangement of alternately transparent and opaque segments. In a first embodiment, a conductive path having an external terminal and shielded from the cathode of the television picture tube at regular intervals by equally large metal areas runs along the edge of the screen. This arrangement is on the inside of the screen. In a second embodiment, an optical-fiber array with at least one light-sensitive detector mounted at at least one corner is used.
