    Abstract: A process for desulphurization of heavy petroleum residues comprises heating thereof to a temperature of from 190.degree. to 200.degree. C., passing a 4-20V electric current through the heated petroleum heavy residues and adding Fe.sub.2 O.sub.3 and/or Pb.sub.3 O.sub.4 and Ba(OH).sub.2 thereto in a weight ratio of the components of 1-10:1-20 respectively; in the case of using Fe.sub.2 O.sub.3 and Pb.sub.3 O.sub.4 simultaneously, their weight ratio is equal to 2-9:1-5 respectively.
