  • Patent number: 5717185
Abstract: An actuator for a high voltage switch has a bellcrank and a rocker pivotally mounted to a frame and connected to one another by opening and closing springs. The bellcrank is linked to the movable actuating element of a high-voltage switch. During switch closing, a catch holds the bellcrank in it open position while the operator pivots the rocker towards a closed position, thereby stretching the closing spring and storing energy in it, while allowing the opening spring to go slack. When the rocker reaches a closing unlatch position, the bellcrank is released and moves rapidly toward its closed position, thus closing the switch. The opening action is similar. The bellcrank and rocker may cooperatively define channels for constraining the springs.

  • Patent number: 5424500
Abstract: The present invention is for use with high-tension electrical switchgear enclosed within a cabinet. The output shaft of a spring operating mechanism mounted on the exterior of the main safety door extends through the door and is connected to a bell crank. As the shaft rotates the bell crank, it imparts force to a first substantially vertical push rod which in turn imparts force to a second bell crank. An arm of the second bell crank imparts force to a second push rod which is connected to a lever arm that is connected to the operating shaft of the electrical switch, thereby opening or closing the switch. The first push rod has ball joints at both ends and a free twisting joint along the rod, thereby allowing opening of the door without disconnecting the operating mechanism. A push rod connected to the first bell crank engages a lip affixed to the cabinet wall to prevent opening of the door when the switch is closed.

  • Patent number: 4857210
Abstract: A non-blinding filter system for batch centrifuges utilizes a high speed injection nozzle to input wet particulate matter in the form of a slurry into a batch centrifuge in a manner that maintains turbulence within the slurry during the filling operation. Submicron particulate fines are suspended in the filtrate and settle out less rapidly than larger diameter particulate matter, thus a layer of coarser material can be laid over the filter media before the majority of the filtrate passes therethrough. A plurality of metering orifices retard the extraction of the filtrate such that the submicron particles are not forced through the layer of coarser material to the filter media with blinding consequences.

  • Patent number: 4855042
Abstract: A neutralizer ring for dynamically balancing a gimbal-mounted overhung centrifuge, wherein the neutralizer ring must have a particular mass and location in accordance with the parameters of a given system and a method for determining the mass and location of said system by iterative manipulation of the mass and location.

  • Patent number: 4640770
Abstract: A batch-type centrifugal system utilizes a gimbal-like suspension at the end of a rotating shaft distal an attached bowl at the other end of the shaft. The shaft rotates within an elongated bearing which is supported proximal the bowl by a support which is selectively variable in resiliency. This variation in resiliency changes the natural radial frequency of the system whereby operation of the system at rotational speeds which correspond to the natural radial frequency may be minimized, thereby effecting smooth loading, drying, and unloading operations.

  • Patent number: 4639320
Abstract: A method for centrifugally drying solid fines and the like limits the freedom of movement of a high speed batch-type centrifuge to radial excursions and varies the natural radial vibration of the system in accordance with the rotational frequency of the system to prevent operating the centrifuge at resonance conditions. Use of the method allows for high speed loading, drying and removal of the fines in a centrifuge.

  • Patent number: 4225010
Abstract: A loudspeaker system embodies an enclosure defining a sound chamber having a front wall with a sound emitting opening therein. An outwardly and forwardly flaring speaker cone is mounted within the enclosure and adjacent the opening therein with the innermost portion of the speaker cone emitting more distorted sound than the outermost portion thereof. At least one reflector is mounted outwardly of the enclosure and forwardly of an outer portion of the speaker cone with the innermost edge of the reflector being located at least 15 per cent of the radial distance measured outwardly from the outer edge of the loudspeaker voice coil to the outer edge of the cone diaphragm with the sound being reflected by the reflector being directed outwardly of the enclosure at least 90.degree. from a line extending forwardly along the axis of the loudspeaker cone.
