  • Publication number: 20070257476
Abstract: An inflator (40) includes a chamber (220) for storing inflation (222) fluid under pressure. A first member (82) has an inner perimeter that defines an opening (92) for discharging the inflation fluid (222). A rupturable closure member (100) extends across the opening (92) and blocks inflation fluid flow though the opening. A second member (110) supports a central portion (302) of the closure member (100) against the pressure of the inflation fluid (222) in the chamber (220). Inflation fluid (222) flows through a passageway (270) defined by an outer perimeter of the second member (110) and the inner perimeter of the first member (82). An initiator (152) ruptures the closure member (100), forming petals (254) of the closure member that deflect into the passageway (270). The petals (254) slide along an outer surface (258) of a portion (132) of the second member (110) while deflecting into the passageway (270).

  • Publication number: 20070049363
Abstract: A remote command system is provided for controlling a device, for example a device or machine used in a manufacturing process. The system may include one headset with a microphone or a plurality of wireless headsets each having a microphone and configured to receive voice sounds from a user and a transmission unit configured to transmit voice signals in response to the voice sounds. A controller interface unit may be configured to receive the voice signals from the wireless headsets and to transmit control signals, where the controller interface is further configured to be trained to receive and interpret voice signals having personal characteristics of a user. A processor module is configured to receive the control signals from the controller interface unit to operate the device or machine.

  • Publication number: 20050230948
Abstract: An apparatus (10) for helping to protect an occupant of a vehicle (12) includes an inflatable vehicle occupant protection device (14). An inflator (24) provides inflation fluid for inflating the protection device (14). A conduit (360) delivers the inflation fluid from the inflator (24) to the protection device (14). The inflator (24) includes an outlet passage (302) and a conduit receiving portion (300) for receiving an end portion (364) of the conduit (360). The conduit receiving portion (300) includes a wall portion (320, 330) that encircles the outlet passage (302) and is spaced from the end portion (364) of the conduit (360) to help define an annular space (372, 374) between the wall portion and the end portion.
