  • Patent number: 4333382
Abstract: An apparatus for launching missiles from aircraft or other launching platms without use of missile fuel is provided through hydraulic means. A hydraulic actuating system provides a high pressure piston stroke over a short distance which permits missiles to be accelerated up to launch speeds prior to initiation of the missile motor. In addition to the use of the hydraulic actuator system, the missile is mounted without external mountings on the missile which affect the aerodynamic performance.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 26, 1979
Date of Patent: June 8, 1982
Assignee: The United States of America as represented by the Secretary of the Navy
Inventors: Lloyd J. Holt, Clayton E. Panlaqui
  • Patent number: 4187761
Abstract: A variable force control system for weapon ejection mechanisms wherein vable ejection forces are applied after measurement of inflight aerodynamic forces on the weapon and thereupon selecting power from one or more fluid power sources of equal or unequal volume and equal or unequal pressure to effect movement of a fixed stroke power piston.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 19, 1978
Date of Patent: February 12, 1980
Assignee: The United States of America as represented by the Secretary of the Navy
Inventors: Lloyd J. Holt, Clayton E. Panlaqui
  • Patent number: 4187760
Abstract: A measuring device for measuring the inflight forces and moments on a store arried by an aircraft wherein a dynamic pressure sensing device is incorporated in a stores suspension member so that a true constant indication of plus or minus forces and moments on the store can be inputted to an on-board aircraft computer for use in controlling the force required to eject the store from the aircraft.

  • Patent number: 4122754
Abstract: Automatic sway brace mechanism for restraining stores mounted on an aircraft. Cam actuated paired sets of sway braces terminating in store engaging pads are arranged to provide a positive self-centering force equalization arrangement wherein said sway brace mechanism is automatically moved from a retracted to a store engaging position and back to a retracted position under positive control.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 5, 1977
Date of Patent: October 31, 1978
Assignee: The United States of America as represented by the Secretary of the Navy
Inventors: Clayton E. Panlaqui, Lloyd J. Holt
  • Patent number: 4103849
Abstract: Apparatus for restraining an aircraft against the combined forces of a cault launching shuttle and aircraft takeoff power during a catapult assisted takeoff until a predetermined combined force level has been reached. Release of the aircraft is triggered by the relative movement of a central piston within a housing which causes disengagement of gripping lugs from a tensile bar attached to the aircraft. The relative movement is enabled by the compressibility of hydraulic oil confined within the apparatus and loaded by the combined forces.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 15, 1977
Date of Patent: August 1, 1978
Assignee: The United States of America as represented by the Secretary of the Navy
Inventors: Lloyd J. Holt, Clayton E. Panlaqui
  • Patent number: 4095762
Abstract: A stores ejection system incorporating a dual piston system for power action of the ejectors and having a linkage for transfer of power between the pistons which does not penetrate the end walls of the operating cylinder but is pinned to a boss on one of the pistons.

  • Patent number: 3974990
Abstract: An aircraft stores suspension and release device including extendible ejers for forcibly ejecting an attached store. The extendible ejectors are hydraulically actuated and dependently connected for positive control and the degree of extension of each ejector is independently adjustable. The extendible ejector may be connected together by mechanical or hydraulic linkage which may be gas, hydraulically or mechanically operated.
