  • Publication number: 20030177930
Abstract: Systems and methods for selecting a media and a page size. A combination is provided for each media/page size pair in a printing system. A user can select a combination from a list of combinations and the media and page size that correspond to the selected combination are identified and used for a print job of the user. A color profile is selected automatically. The selected media is loaded in an appropriate printer and printed. The combination is an encrypted value that includes a media and a page size. The combination optionally includes an entity identifier. The combinations or identifiers are usually specific to a particular entity and cannot be used by other competing entities.

  • Patent number: 5666547
Abstract: A method and apparatus for identifying at least a portion of a framing pattern in a data stream comprising a plurality of sequential bits. In the method embodiment, the method includes the step of identifying a set of successive candidate bits wherein the identified candidate bits are spaced apart from one another. The successive candidate bits include a first candidate bit, a last candidate bit, and a predetermined number of intermediary bits between the first candidate bit and the last candidate bit. Each of the intermediary bits has a numeric relative position between the first candidate bit and the last candidate bit. The method further includes the step of identifying a group of look ahead bits corresponding to each of the intermediary bits. Each of the groups has a number of look ahead bits, and the particular number of such bit for a given group equals the magnitude of the numeric relative position for the intermediary bit corresponding to the group.

  • Patent number: 5648070
Abstract: Biocompatible anion exchange materials are provided comprising a support having a quaternary amine moiety and a polyethylene oxide (PEO) moiety having between about 10 and about 200 repeating units covalently bonded thereto, such that said quaternary amine and polyethylene oxide moieties are substantially homogeneously distributed on said support. These anion exchange materials are useful for removing negatively charged species such as heparin from blood and other body fluids without significant removal of platelets. Methods of making and using these materials are also provided.

  • Patent number: 4007953
Abstract: A coupling nut is rotatably mounted on a barrel and retained thereon by the means of a snap ring. The snap ring is formed with forwardly and rearwardly extending tabs at its free ends which cooperate with a slot formed in the outer surface of the barrel and a recess formed in the inner surface of the nut which allows the nut to be assembled onto the barrel and removed therefrom without the use of a tool.
