  • Patent number: 4034618
Abstract: Apparatus is provided for reducing the noise generated by the meshing of an endless track and a drive sprocket of a track type vehicle including a pair of annular treads of resilient material. The treads are mounted about the peripheries of a respective one of a pair of cylindrical wall members provided on opposite sides of the sprocket for positioning the treads in radially aligned relationship with a respective one of the inwardly facing rail surfaces provided on a respective one of the double chains of the track. The treads are sized so that, in a free state, their outer peripheries are positioned radially outwardly of the normal position of their respective rail surfaces when the track is fully seated with the sprocket so that the rail surfaces engage and compress the treads before the track comes into full mesh with the sprocket, thereby alleviating any impact therebetween.

  • Patent number: 4034881
Abstract: A lift truck vehicle suitable for use in ultra narrow aisle applications includes a pair of combined side frame and outrigger members interconnecting front and rear body portions of the vehicle. The combined side frame and outrigger members provide both structural integrity to the vehicle body as well as serve to stabilize the vehicle when loading and unloading loads on opposite sides of the vehicle. The combined side frame and outrigger members are generally elongated and have a pair of flanges at opposite ends thereof including shafts thereon rotatively journaled into the front and rear body portions. A linear motor interconnecting corresponding flanges of the combination side frame and outrigger members provides motive power for rotating members from their roading or travelling position away from contact with the ground support surface into their stabilizing position in contact with the ground support surface.

  • Patent number: 4030568
Abstract: A lift truck mast assembly providing unobstructed visibility for the truck operator is provided. The assembly includes a pair of spaced-apart mast uprights for supporting a load bearing carriage. Hydraulic jacks for lifting the carriage are mounted outboard of the mast uprights so that the space between such uprights is unobstructed. The mast uprights include inner and outer telescoping channel members. The inner channel members are provided with laterally extending flange plates each having a pin-receiving, locating aperture. The rod portion of each of the hydraulic jacks is equipped with a chain sheave assembly and each sheave assembly is provided with a vertically extending locator pin. Upon extension of the rod portions, the carriage is free-lifted until the locator pins are received by the flange plate apertures at which point the inner channel members are raised concurrently with the carriage relative to the outer channel members of the mast uprights.

  • Patent number: 3990162
Abstract: An earthworking device comprises an adapter having a tip detachably mounted on a forward end thereof. A flat pin of rectangular cross section, disposed in aligned bores formed through the adapter and the tip, is held in place by a triangularly shaped spring clip which straddles notches formed on the pin.

  • Patent number: 3952433
Abstract: An earthworking device comprises a support member having a work tool, such as an earthworking tip, detachably mounted on a forward end thereof. A pin is disposed in aligned bores formed through the support member and the work tool and a spring clip straddles the pin in locked engagement therewith. The spring clip is substantially encapsulated by an elastomeric member which aids in maintaining the spring clip in frictional engagement with the pin. The spring clip may comprise a "hair pin" or U-shaped configuration.
