  • Patent number: 4113180
Abstract: A flush-drip irrigation emitter including a compact emitter element, a housing enclosing the emitter element and an insect guard, the emitter element having a pair of confronting oppositely arched flexible walls defining a flush flow passage with sharp lateral edges, one of the walls having at least one drip duct, the walls being responsive to a minimal pressure difference to collapse against each other in mutual sealing relation and confine flow to the drip duct. The housing including telescopable complementary housing components provided with an inlet connectable to a water supply and an outlet, the emitter element including sealing means interposed between the housing components, the housing components having mutually engageable latch elements and a tool receiving channel to effect separation; the outlet being arranged to receive directly or indirectly through a small irrigation tube, an insect guard.

  • Patent number: 4095745
Abstract: A continuous flow tube containing a series of emitters arranged to discharge through a wall of the flow tube, each emitter forming a flush flow passage collapsible to form a drip flow passage at a preselected low flow tube pressure; the emitters having side walls of such area with respect to the area of the flow tube, that when exposed transversely to initial flow through the flow tube the emitters form externally a series of flow restricting valves which rapidly raise the flow line pressure to a value at which drip flow occurs, thereby minimizing the number of emitters undergoing flush flow. One embodiment of the emitter is adapted to be installed by forcing the emitter into the flow tube from the exterior thereof. Another embodiment utilizes a flow tube initially in the form of a web which receives the emitters and is then rolled into a tube with the margins of the web circumferentially overlapped and bonded.

  • Patent number: 4095618
Abstract: An irrigation deterrent tube, particularly adapted for drip or trickle irrigation, the tube having, normally, a flat configuration when free of internal pressure, and expansible to an essentially cylindrical configuration, when pressurized, the tube having laterally projecting webs which tend to be the first to be bitten by a rodent while exploring the presence of the irrigation tube; the lateral margins of the webs may be enlarged to contain a concentration of a deterrent or toxic material. In one embodiment, the tube and webs form a single extrusion, in other embodiments, the tube and webs may be separately extruded and subsequently joined together.

  • Patent number: 4058257
Abstract: An irrigation emitter including a fixed longitudinally extending passage wall element having a longitudinally extending restricted flow groove therein, and a flexible longitudinally extending passage wall element overlying the fixed wall element and contacting the fixed wall element along its side margins to define therewith a flush passage and adapted to collapse against the fixed wall element to confine flow to the restricted flow groove. One embodiment of the irrigation emitter having a single fixed wall element and flexible wall element forming a single flush passage and restricted flow groove. Another embodiment includes a ring of fixed wall elements and flexible wall elements forming a ring of flush passages and restricted flow grooves which may be modified for axial discharge or deflected discharge, and the grooves arranged for drip flow, or spray flow; and when arranged for spray flow, may be deflected to produce a segmental spray of selected circumferential extent.

  • Patent number: RE29022
Abstract: A self-flushing irrigating valve formed, at least in part, of an elastically deformable material which, when subjected to differential pressures below a preselected value, occupies an open position forming a passage for the flushing of water therethrough; and when subjected to differential pressures above a preselected value, forms a constricted passage for trickle flow of water therethrough. The valve, when in its trickle flow condition, tends to effect further constriction on further increase in differential pressure thereby tending to produce a uniform flow rate through a range of effective pressures.
