  • Publication number: 20020138990
Abstract: A shears for cutting sheet metal or similar material located in a raised position, such as above the shoulders of the operator, includes front and rear handle members and upper and lower blade members. The handle members are pivotally connected together at a handle pivot point adjacent the upper ends of the handle members. The blade members are pivotally connected together at a blade pivot point located above the pivoted upper ends of the handle members. In addition, the shanks of the upper and lower blade members are pivotally connected to the front and rear handle members at respective front and rear pivot points located along the lengths of the handle members. Each blade member includes a cutting edge that extends perpendicularly or obliquely relative to the longitudinal direction of the handle member to which the blade member is pivotally connected. The handle members may be provided with soft cushion-like hand-grips to improve the operator's comfort and grip.

  • Patent number: 5848473
Abstract: A reciprocating saw blade comprises an elongated substantially flat body having a tang end and a distal tip end, a back edge and a spaced apart cutting edge. The cutting edge is formed of first and second pluralities of alternately and oppositely facing slicing teeth which define gullets formed therebetween. The first plurality of the slicing teeth extends from the one end and merges into the second plurality of the slicing teeth which extends to the other end. Each slicing tooth includes a slicing face facing one end, a planing face facing the other end, and a tip including an uppermost planar surface. The tips of the second plurality of teeth are substantially tangent to a first tooth tip tangent line. Each tip surface of the second plurality of teeth lies at a greater angle to the first tip tangent line than the tip surface of the first plurality of teeth. A method of making a reciprocating saw blade in accordance with the present invention is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5355588
Abstract: A rotary cutter having a handle, a cylindrical head formed on one end of the handle and having a planar surface on each side of the head, an actuating member pivotally mounted in the head, a circular blade mounted on the actuating member and having a pinking or wave shaped cutting edge offset from the blade to form a hub, the blade being secured to one side of the actuating member with the hub located in a parallel relation to one of the planar surfaces, and a finger guard formed as an integral part of the handle and head.

  • Patent number: 4352456
Abstract: A cab heating system for material handling equipment which maximizes energy savings by utilizing the heat generated during hydraulic operation. The cab heating system has a hydraulic control unit which controls a material handling implement. A heat exchanger is positioned downstream of the hydraulic control unit. Air flowing through the heat exchanger is heated by the hydraulic fluid and blown by a fan into the interior of the cab. The heating system can also have an auxiliary heat exchanger to further heat the hydraulic fluid. In one embodiment, the auxiliary heat exchanger utilizes engine coolant heated by the vehicle's engine. In another embodiment, the auxiliary heat exchanger utilizes hot exhaust gases from the vehicle's engine. A cooler can be provided to cool the hydraulic fluid.
