  • Patent number: 9878480
Abstract: A method of making synthetic polymer pellet feedstock having a high concentration of an anti-microbial agent includes the steps of: introducing a polymer into a mixing vessel; introducing a polysiloxane dispersant into the mixing vessel; introducing an anti-microbial agent comprised of a powdered metal material into the mixing vessel; heating and mixing the polymer, the polysiloxane dispersant and the anti-microbial agent to form a molten blend that exhibits a generally homogenous dispersal of the anti-microbial agent; extruding the molten blend to form filaments; and cutting the filaments to form metalized synthetic polymer pellet feedstock. The powdered metal material includes particles of silver in metallic or salt form measuring between about 2 micrometers and about 12 micrometers and particles of copper in metallic or salt form measuring between about 2 micrometers and about 12 micrometers.

  • Patent number: 9877357
Abstract: A first performance measure is determined of an existing data session between a mobile gateway and a cloud gateway via a first wireless carrier. Second performance measures of others of the wireless carriers are determined during the existing data session. Based on the first performance measure and the second performance measures, the existing data session is continued with the cloud gateway via a second of the wireless carriers.

  • Patent number: 6759574
Abstract: Methods and compositions for suppressing gall formation in plant cells induced by Agrobacterium infection are disclosed. The methods involve introducing at least one DNA construct, encoding at least one untranslatable sense-strand RNA and/or double-stranded RNA, into a plant cell. Introduction of these molecules into the plant cell causes the plant cells to become resistant to gall formation.

  • Patent number: 5638891
Abstract: A casting roll (11) on which to cast molten metal comprises central shaft (12), an outer circumferential wall (14) fitted over cylindrical mandrel (15) and roll end walls (16). Longitudinal wall (14) is cooled by water passed through longitudinal passages (22) in that wall. The cooling water is passed to and from passages (22) through passages (23) in the central shaft, radial passages (24) in the end walls (16) and transition passages (25) interconnecting the radial passages with the longitudinal passages. In order to promote cooling of the end corners (31) of the roll, transition passages (25) extend in smoothly curved bends into regions of the roll disposed both radially and longitudinally outwardly from the intersection directions of the longitudinal passages (22) and radial passages (24) so as to provide for water flow close to the roll comers (31) without formation of stagnation pockets.
