  • Patent number: 7472352
Abstract: A collaboration services suite is adapted to support a plurality of integrated telecommunications services accessed by geographically dispersed team members using a virtual team environment (VTE) client that generates a graphical user interface (GUI) for each of the respective team members. Communications sessions are automatically set up by the collaboration services suite in response to request messages generated by the VTE client when a team member initiates a communications session request using the GUI. Team members require no knowledge of another team member's communications device address in order to initiate a communications session. The collaboration services suite includes a VTE server that communicates with the VTE clients, a presence engine that collects and maintains a status of communications devices specified in a current profile of the team member; and, a call server for handling setup and control of a voice component of each communications session completed.

  • Publication number: 20080296835
Abstract: A method of registering sheets laterally and in skew enables active sheet deskew without translating the sheet in the cross-process direction. A sensor carriage position is controlled to find the sheet edge after which deskew control can start. The average value of the carriage position can then be fed in a feedforward manner to move the image location to match the average paper position. This achieves good average lateral registration and active skew control at a reduced cost.

  • Publication number: 20080258382
Abstract: A system and method are provided to calibrate a sheet velocity measurement derived from a drive nip system incorporating idler encoders. Testing has found that the velocity from an idler encoder system is subject to systematic errors, for example, errors that occur when the system is running media of different thicknesses. The system uses one or more nips with encoders mounted on the idlers and a number of point sensors that are spaced apart in the process direction. The point sensors are used to measure the transmit time of the sheet (lead edge or trail edge) between two sensor positions. The transit time is used to calculate the average sheet velocity. The average sheet velocity is compared with the velocity derived from the idler encoders to derive a correction factor. The velocity sensor are used to calibrate the idler-encoder velocity sensors, providing a worthwhile improvement to idler-encoder technology for media handling (e.g., feeding, transport, and finishing) in direct marking systems.

  • Publication number: 20080240820
Abstract: A method and apparatus for determining the lateral position of a moving sheet in a sheet registration system. A side edge sensor is moved from a known location until the side edge of the moving sheet is detected. A signal is generated indicative of the position of the side edge when it is detected. The position of the side edge as indicated by the signal is used along with skew of the sheet to determine the lateral position of the sheet.

  • Publication number: 20080237974
Abstract: Systems and methods for positioning a sheet in a feed path including at least one sheet drive roller driven in a rotational direction by a drive shaft in which the drive shaft translates in a lengthwise direction along the axis of the drive shaft. A power shaft rotates about the same axis as the drive shaft and is driven by a power source that is fixedly mounted in the system. The power shaft is fixed to the drive shaft by a flexible coupling that allows the drive shaft and the power shaft to move relative to one another in the lengthwise direction along the axis while maintaining corresponding rotational motion between the power shaft and the drive shaft.

  • Publication number: 20080237975
Abstract: The presently described embodiments are directed to a method and system for improving sheet registration in a document processing device. The presently described embodiments implement a technique the produces accurate results with merely a small tail wag. To do so, the method ultimately establishes or determines a variety of parameters (e.g. lateral position of a sheet, skew, registration time, nominal sheet velocity, and correction velocity). These parameters are then used by the system to calculate a lateral velocity profile. In this regard, the calculated velocity profiles are applied to the wheels or nips, in the paper path. Thus, the wheels can be controlled and will allow for improved sheet registration in the document processing device.

  • Patent number: 7422211
Abstract: A closed loop feedback method that continuously adjusts the lateral and skew position of a sheet includes a first sensor that is used to measure lateral sheet edge position. A second sensor measures the lateral sheet edge position at a certain distance from the first sensor. Sheet skew values can thus be calculated. Lateral and skew controllers provide outputs to lateral and skew actuators, respectively, to adjust the sheet position. A different method of registering sheets laterally and in skew enables active sheet deskew without translating the sheet in the cross-process direction. A sensor carriage position is controlled to find the sheet edge after which deskew control can start. The average value of the carriage position can then be fed in a feedforward manner to move the image location to match the average paper position. This achieves good average lateral registration and active skew control at a reduced cost.

  • Patent number: 7422210
Abstract: In a system of automatic deskewing and registration of print media sheets moving in a printer paper path with laterally spaced apart differentially driven rollers controlled by the sensing of the moving sheet lead edge skew at a position downstream in said paper path there is further provided a subsequent trail edge sheet skew detection of the same moving sheet at a position upstream of the differentially driven rollers to subsequently differently control the differential driving of those same rollers to make a final and normally much smaller deskewing correction in the same sheet after the majority but less than all of said sheet is downstream of the differentially driven drive rollers.

  • Patent number: 7421241
Abstract: Parallel printing systems and methods incorporate inverter assemblies for not only inverting media during transport through the system but also to register the media or provide a velocity buffer transports with different drive velocities. The inverter assemblies can include the capability to optionally deskew the media and provide lateral registration corrections. The inverter assembly nip rollers are sufficiently spaced from process drive nip rollers to decouple a document in the inverter assembly from the highway paths. The method comprises combining the inverting function selectively with either the registering or the velocity buffering functions.

  • Publication number: 20080043659
Abstract: A method and system for directed call establishment to anchor selected cellular calls in a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) or an IP Multi-Media Subsystem (IMS) network employs a mobile handset application client to interrupt selected cellular call initiations and request a directed call establishment number from a converged services node. A call placed to the directed call establishment number creates a call signaling path through the converged services node in the VoIP or IMS network, which can then exercise control over the call to provide enhanced call services. The converged services node completes a call connection to the original called number in a manner transparent to the user of the mobile handset.

  • Publication number: 20080000485
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a system and method for determining the location of the bottom of a fluid chamber in a surgical cassette to calibrate the surgical system. According to one embodiment, the surgical cassette is shaped to allow light from a light source to pass unobstructed to a linear sensor array in an area that is a known distance from the bottom of a fluid chamber. Light rays intersected by solid cassette material, on the other hand, will insufficiently illuminate the linear sensor array. Because the slot is a known distance from the bottom of the chamber, the location of the bottom of the chamber can be determined by determining the transition between illuminated and insufficiently illuminated portions of the linear sensor array.

  • Publication number: 20070231205
Abstract: A fluidic cassette detection mechanism is used for detecting the presence of a cassette at a certain position within a fluidic module. When the cassette is inserted into the fluidic module to a certain position and orientation, the detector mechanism senses the presence of the fluidic cassette and provides an appropriate signal to the system software. The system software can then command the closing of the mechanism, which holds the cassette during a procedure. The fluidic cassette detector mechanism can comprise a number of mechanical probes, optical interrupt switches, and miscellaneous components including springs and screws. The probes extend beyond the face of the fluidic module faceplate and beyond the rear stops of the clamps. When the fluidic cassette is inserted into the fluidic module far enough to sufficiently move the probes, the probes trip the switches to signal that the cassette is in the correct position and orientation for the clamping motion to begin.
