  • Publication number: 20130191049
Abstract: A method for monitoring partial discharges in an electric power transmission system includes the steps of: detecting electric pulses from a component of the electric power transmission system, repeating a battery of different tests adapted to provide each a result indicative of partial discharge activity, the tests being continuously performed in succession one after the other in a preset period of time, each including a set of operations of acquisition and evaluations of the detected electrical pulses, and differing each other for a plurality of different combinations of values taken by test parameters used for executing the acquisition and evaluation operations; analyzing the results obtained with time by the batteries of tests executed at different execution times in the present period of time; and generating an alarm depending on the outcome of the analysis step.

  • Publication number: 20130183013
Abstract: It is disclosed a process for manufacturing a fiber optic overhead ground wire cable. The process comprising the following steps: providing an optical core; providing a reinforcing structure consisting of at least one layer of wires onto the optical core, at least part of the wires being clad with a first metallic material; extruding an outer layer onto the reinforcing structure, the outer layer being made of a second metallic material having a softening point substantially similar to the softening point of the first metallic material; and cooling the outer layer immediately after extruding.

  • Patent number: 8244087
Abstract: A hybrid cable includes a plurality of conductor wires, at least one optical fiber unit and an insulation jacket surrounding the electrical conductors and the optical fiber unit. The at least one optical fiber unit is dispersed in a number of the electrical conductors which is at least 12 times the number of the optical fiber units, the diameter of the optical fiber unit being substantially equal to or greater than the diameter of the electrical conductors.

  • Publication number: 20120194312
Abstract: Apparatus and method for generating electric energy in an electric power transmission system includes an AC cable including a core, wherein a portion of the core is partially surrounded by an apparatus including a ferromagnetic body and an electrically conducting winding. The ferromagnetic body extends along a longitudinal axis and has, in a cross section taken along said longitudinal axis, a shape defined by an arc. The electrically conducting winding is wound around the ferromagnetic body to form turns in planes substantially perpendicular to the arc.

  • Publication number: 20120188095
Abstract: Method and system for monitoring parameters of a cable system of an electric power transmission system, wherein: a plurality of monitoring nodes is associated with different monitoring points of the cable system; the monitoring nodes are operated alternatively in a sleeping mode and in an active mode; in the active modes the monitoring nodes acquire values of at least one of said parameters and process the acquired values so as to generate corresponding output data; a central unit collects the output data generated by the monitoring nodes; the output data generated by the monitoring nodes are sent from the monitoring nodes, when in active mode, toward the central unit by making them pass from one of the monitoring nodes to another, by starting from the monitoring node that generates the output data until a last of the monitoring nodes, which forwards the output data to the central unit.
