  • Patent number: 9002100
Abstract: An active learning system and method are disclosed for generating a visual representation of a set of unlabeled elements to be labeled according to class. The representation shows the unlabeled elements as data points in a space and each class as a class point in the space. The position of each of the data points in the space reflects the uncertainty of a model regarding the classification of the respective element. The color of each data point also reflects the uncertainty of the model regarding the classification of the element and may be a mixture of the colors used for the class points.

  • Patent number: 8194077
Abstract: A system and method of generating a dynamic visualization of a multi-dimensional dataset of data-points are disclosed. The method is an adaptation of the Grand Tour approach, but instead of using all possible projections comprising at least one data point, some of which may not be useful, the method includes generating a set of candidate projections from the space of all possible projections. The set of candidate projections is approximated with a one dimensional smoothed curve and the dynamic visualization is generated, based on a sequence of projections taken along the smoothed curve.

Date of Patent: June 5, 2012
    Assignee: Xerox Corporation

  • Patent number: 7953679
Abstract: A computer-based method and a system for indexing, querying, and ranking documents based on layout are provided. The method includes providing a plurality of documents to computer memory, extracting layout blocks from the provided documents, clustering the layout blocks into a plurality of layout block clusters, computing a representative block for each of the layout block clusters, generating a document index for each provided document based on the layout blocks of the document and the computed representatives blocks, clustering the created document indexes into a plurality of document index clusters, and generating a representative cluster index for each of the document index clusters. The indexes generated, together with the representative blocks and document index clusters, can be stored and used for retrieval of documents responsive to a layout query.
