Patent number: 11979812Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, devices, apparatus and methods, including computer programs encoded on storage media, for high efficiency (HE) beacons. HE supported access points (APs) and stations (STAs) may operate on resource deployments used for Wi-Fi technology and without support for legacy devices, also referred to as a greenfield deployment. An AP may identify updated capability information and transmit a HE physical layer convergence protocol (PLCP) protocol data unit (PPDU) including a beacon frame. A STA may receive, from the AP, the HE or EHT PPDU and identify an indication of change to a content or format of the beacon frame relative to a reference beacon frame. Based on the identified indication, the STA may then determine an updated content or format for the beacon frame and process the beacon frame or skip processing for one or more portions of the beacon frame.Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 2022Date of Patent: May 7, 2024Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Abhishek Pramod Patil, George Cherian, Alfred Asterjadhi, Sandip Homchaudhuri, Maarten Menzo Wentink, Alireza Raissinia, Lochan Verma, Padmanabhan Venkataraman Karthic

Publication number: 20240129960Abstract: This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for synchronized channel access. Some implementations more specifically relate to facilitating coexistence among wireless communication devices that support synchronized channel access and those that do not. A group of access points may schedule periodically recurring, synchronized channel access periods by periodically transmitting quiet elements. The quiet elements establish recurring quiet periods during which legacy devices are not permitted to transmit. In some implementations, an access point may transmit one or more quiet override elements each associated with a respective quiet element and indicating to other access points supporting synchronized channel access that they are permitted to contend for access during the respective quiet period.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 27, 2023Publication date: April 18, 2024Inventors: Alfred ASTERJADHI, Lochan VERMA, George CHERIAN, Abhishek Pramod PATIL, Sai Yiu Duncan HO

Publication number: 20240106495Abstract: In order to eliminate the reliance of ultra-high bandwidth (UWB) standalone transceivers and narrow-band-assisted (NB-assisted) UWB transceivers on BLUETOOTH™ (BLE) usage, an NB radio may be used. The NB radio may be tightly coupled with the UWB radio, for example driven by the same time source, to enable leveraged use of ACP (Acquisition Packet) for discovery, session setup, and maintenance over UWB and/or NB-assisted UWB without the use of BLE. Rules for advertising ACP and scanning for ACP may be defined for two modes of operation. An ad-hoc discovery may be based on external acquisition triggers, while a managed discovery may be based on an ongoing discovery advertisement process. ACPs may thereby be transmitted over UWB and/or NB.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 22, 2023Publication date: March 28, 2024Inventors: Lochan Verma, Yong Liu, Robert Golshan

Publication number: 20240107504Abstract: Multiuser (MU) Multi-TID (multi-traffic-identifier) transmission may be enabled in a resource unit (RU). To transmit an urgent payload as soon as possible, the urgent payload may be injected/included into the ongoing MU physical protocol data unit (MU PPDU), if possible. This may be accomplished by indicating to the latency-sensitive wireless station (STA) the ID of a companion (or buddy) station that has an assigned resource unit (RU) on which the STA may expect to receive the urgent payload, also referred to as the “overloaded RU.” Alternatively, an extra user field in the preamble of the MU PPDU may be used to indicate to the STA its station ID as well as the location of the overloaded RU. A receiver operating on an A-MPDU may select the RU it receives, and may identify (or determine) a wrong transmission based on the transmitter address.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 22, 2023Publication date: March 28, 2024Inventors: Lochan Verma, Jarkko L. Publication number: 20240107369Abstract: The subject disclosure provides systems and methods for improved medium access for wireless communication. A wireless access point, on contending for and gaining medium access, may share a time and/or bandwidth channel resource with one or more other wireless access points and/or one or more client devices. The wireless access point can efficiently share the channel resource using buffer status information computed by the wireless access point and/or additional buffer status information computed by the one or more other wireless access points. In one or more implementations, latency information for buffered data can be provided from a client device to a wireless access point and/or from a satellite wireless access point to a control wireless access point.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 25, 2023Publication date: March 28, 2024Inventors: Lochan VERMA, Yong LIU

Publication number: 20240106584Abstract: Payload transmission of multiple stations on a single resource unit may be performed. New and/or updated signaling may be introduced to enable a transmitter, e.g., an access point (AP), to include information/signaling in the preamble or in other frames. A receiver (e.g., a wireless station) that receives this information/signaling may accordingly determine in which RU it should decode to receive its allocated data or payload, allowing multiple receivers or STAs to share a single resource unit (RU). The new/updated signaling may include modified hybrid downlink multiuser signaling in Ultra High Reliability Signal (UHR-SIG), a group association identifier (gAID), a predefined special AID corresponding to an RU with use of a Bloom filter, multiple predefined special AIDs each corresponding to a non-overlapping group of wireless stations, and/or signaling announcing time sharing of single RUs.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 22, 2023Publication date: March 28, 2024Inventors: Jinjing Jiang, Lochan Verma, Jarkko L. Patent number: 11926993Abstract: This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for sharing resources of a wireless medium. Various implementations relate generally to coordinated transmit power control for sharing time and frequency resources of a wireless medium. Particular implementations relate more specifically to coordinated access point spatial-reuse-multiple-access techniques for sharing the time and frequency resources of a transmission opportunity. According to such techniques, an access point that wins contention and gains access to the wireless medium for the duration of a transmission opportunity may limit the transmit powers of the access points selected to share the time and frequency resources such that interference from the selected access points does not prevent stations associated with the winning access point from successfully decoding packets transmitted by it.Type: GrantFiled: September 13, 2022Date of Patent: March 12, 2024Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Lochan Verma, George Cherian, Maarten Menzo Wentink

ORTHOGONAL MULTIPLEXING OF HIGH EFFICIENCY (HE) AND EXTREMELY HIGH THROUGHPUT (EHT) WIRELESS TRAFFIC
Publication number: 20240056996Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media for orthogonal multiplexing of high efficiency (HE) and extremely high throughput (EHT) wireless traffic. Devices in a wireless local area network (WLAN) may operate under HE or EHT conditions. An access point (AP) may support both HE and EHT communications with WLAN devices. To enable substantially simultaneous downlink HE and EHT transmissions and substantially simultaneous uplink HE and EHT transmissions, the AP may support orthogonal frequency-division multiple access (OFDMA) of HE and EHT transmissions. For example, pre-HE and pre-EHT modulated fields, HE and EHT modulated fields, and payloads may be aligned in time for the HE and EHT transmissions. The AP may ensure orthogonality for multiplexing the HE and EHT transmissions based on the alignment. In some implementations, a trigger frame may be utilized to indicate uplink transmission alignments.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 23, 2023Publication date: February 15, 2024Inventors: Lochan Verma, Bin Tian, Sameer Vermani, Lin Yang
