  • Publication number: 20020124295
Abstract: A clothing apparatus is provided with at least one fabric panel, a panel of stretch fabric, a sensor unit retaining pocket, and a light opaque fabric. The at least one fabric panel is configured to encompass a patient thoracic region. The stretch fabric panel is joined to the fabric panel about the thoracic region of a patient when wearing the clothing apparatus. A free edge of the overlapping stretch fabric panel is configured to be releasably mated along an overlapping area of the stretch fabric panel with one of the fabric panel and the stretch fabric panel. The sensor unit retaining pocket is provided between the at least one fabric panel and the stretch fabric panel. The light opaque fabric is provided in the fabric panel about an opening in an inner surface of the fabric panel contiguous with the retaining pocket. The opening is configured to enable a sensor unit received within the pocket to maintain direct contact with a skin surface of a patient over the thoracic heart region.

  • Patent number: 4894876
Abstract: A bed for multipurpose maternity care uses includes an elevationally adjustabel bed frame carried by transversely spaced lift mechanisms that permit the bed frame to nest between the lift mechanisms as it is raised or lowered with respect to a supporting base. An upper mattress assembly, including a seat and back rest, are pivotally mounted across the top of the bed frame. The bed frame includes a forwardly open cavity having guides for receiving a longitudinally movable lower mattress assembly at all elevational positions of the bed frame relative to the base. Elevationally movable outer supports mounted on the bed frame engage and support the lower mattress assembly when it is extended longitudinally outward from the bed frame. A pair of foot supports are movably mounted on brackets alongside the bed frame. The supporting linkages and brackets for the foot supports can be selectively connected to the outer supports for moving the extended lower mattress assembly in unison with the foot supports.

  • Patent number: 4411035
Abstract: A maternity care bed having an elevationally adjustable framework supported on a floor. A patient support surface of a central seat section is movably mounted on the framework about a pivot axis adjacent the head of the bed. A head section is pivoted to the seat section. A foot section is located adjacent the remaining end of the seat section. It is also pivotally mounted adjacent the head of the bed for elevational adjustment of both the seat and foot section independently of one another. The foot section includes a patient support surface that can be raised to a position in which it serves as an extension of the patient support surface of the seat section. It also can be lowered and retracted beneath the seat section while the seat section is in a raised position.

  • Patent number: 4383351
Abstract: A universal clamp for an adjustable post includes a split base clamp mounted on a stationary supporting stud. An elongated channel in the form of a yoke including a rigid extension protruding through the split base clamp slidably supports a pair of opposed jaws adapted to engage the post. The channel is enclosed within a covering sleeve. One jaw is fixed with respect to the sleeve. The remaining jaw is operably movable through a lever operator and interposed over-center toggle plate. Manipulation of the lever operator tensions the channel and extension. This tightens the split base clamp. It also engages complementary radial serrations surrounding the extension on one end of the sleeve and on the split base clamp. The jaws are compressively moved toward one another through the toggle plate and interposed sleeve to grasp the post and thereby fix its position relative to the mounting stud.

  • Patent number: 4139917
Abstract: A bed for obstetrical and similar purposes, having a rigid support frame in two releasable modules which mounts a series of relatively movable mattress sections. When latched end-to-end, the two modules and the mattress sections are capable of being adjusted to various configurations to comfortably support a patient for labor, delivery and normal hospital care purposes. A center mattress section is movably supported on pivoted braces connected to the bed support frame. An upper mattress section is pivotably connected to the center section, and a lower mattress section is movably mounted to the bed support frame. Elevational adjustment is available between the abutting ends of the center and lower sections to expose the patient's pelvic area. When necessary, the two modules can be detached from one another and leg supports can be used to provide access for difficult deliveries or other operations.
