  • Publication number: 20230262468
Abstract: In a context of virtualized access points deployment, an access point of a first wireless network is split in a radio equipment deployed at the user premises and a radio equipment controller deployed in a data centre located a few kilometres from the user premises, the radio equipment and the radio equipment controller being interconnected via a wired network connection. In order to establish a secure wireless connection of a device to the virtualized access point in a user-friendly manner, a salient idea is to receive at the radio equipment controller in the data centre a first and a second information items respectively emulating a first action of a user on the first device and a second action of the user on the virtualized access point.

  • Publication number: 20210119844
Abstract: A method for processing a stream of data represented by a plurality of symbols associated with a constellation. The method includes applying a symbol constellation extension projection to at least one of the plurality of symbols, the symbol constellation extension projection having an outward angular region, the outward angular region defined by a value of an angle, and the value of the angle equal to or less than an angular distance between two symbols in the constellation. The value of the angle is based on a constellation and a code rate used for encoding and transmitting the stream of data.

  • Publication number: 20200119960
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for processing a signal that is transmitted with a reduced peak to average power ratio are described. The processing includes applying (1650) a symbol constellation extension projection to at least one symbol in the constellation, the symbol constellation extension projection having an outward angular region from an original position for the at least one symbol in the constellation, the outward angular region defined by a value for an angle between a first boundary and a second boundary for the outward angular region, the value for the angle determined by a selection of the constellation used as part of the transmitted signal and a code rate used for encoding the stream of data.

  • Publication number: 20190335239
Abstract: A method for managing staggercast transmissions in a communication network comprises a central device (30) and a plurality of user terminals (TA, TB, TC). The central device comprises a staggercast transmitter (100) and each of the user terminals comprises a staggercast receiver (200A, 200B, 200C). The central device performs, at least for a given user terminal: determining and storing a profile comprising at least one piece of information relating to the given user terminal; and adjusting at least one staggercast parameter based on the profile, for a content transmission by the staggercast transmitter towards the staggercast receiver comprised in the given user terminal.

  • Publication number: 20180375706
Abstract: A method and apparatus for receiving a reduced peak to average power ratio signal is disclosed. The method includes receiving a signal, the signal being processed prior to transmission to reduce peak to average power ratio, determining a processing mode used to reduce the peak to average power ratio of the received signal, and reducing the amplitude level for a portion of the received signal using constant modulus clipping if the processing mode includes a two-dimensional constellation extension. The apparatus includes a processing circuit that receives a signal, the signal being processed prior to transmission to reduce peak to average power ratio, and a limiter circuit that determines a processing mode used to reduce the peak to average power ratio of the received signal and reduces the amplitude level for a portion of the received signal using constant modulus clipping if the processing mode includes a two-dimensional constellation extension.

  • Publication number: 20180302262
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for processing a signal that is transmitted with a reduced peak to average power ratio are described. The processing includes applying (1650) a first type of symbol constellation extension projection to at least one symbol in the constellation if it is determined that a type of constellation is a non-square constellation, the first type of symbol constellation extension projection having an outward angular region from an original position for the at least one symbol in the constellation, the outward angular region defined by a value for an angle between a first boundary and a second boundary for the outward angular region.

  • Publication number: 20170302488
Abstract: A broadcast TV signal is a DVB-T2 based system. A DVB-T2 transmitter checks OFDM symbols before transmission to determine a level of adjacent channel interference (ACI). If the of level of ACI is too high, i.e., above a threshold value, the OFDM symbols are filtered before transmission. Otherwise, the OFDM symbols are transmitted without filtering. A filtering field is added to an LI pre-signaling table of the broadcast DVB-T2 signal to signal a DVB-T2 receiver when the received OFDM symbols have been filtered.

  • Publication number: 20170180437
Abstract: In a staggercasting system, a receiver estimates a delivery time of a packet from a main stream and, if the packet from the main stream is not received at the estimated delivery time, the receiver substitutes a corresponding packet from the stagger stream. As a result, a loss can be detected quicker since the receiver does not have to wait until detection of a missing sequence number and, therefore, the receiver can accommodate the time of presentation such that the user does not suffer a loss in quality of service.

  • Publication number: 20160219331
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are provided which utilize the preamble of a multi-carrier modulated digital transmitted signal to indicate whether or not a special message (e.g., Emergency Alert System messages) is available for reception. When in power saving mode the receiver periodically detects the preamble, which requires limited functionality and power, to check for the presence of such special messages. The receiver only completely wakes up additional functionalities if a special message is detected in the preamble. This results in advantageous savings in power consumption, particularly for portable and handheld devices, while having the capability of receiving special messages anytime.
