  • Publication number: 20070296171
Abstract: A support device connects a wheel to suspension elements of a vehicle, the wheel having a radius R?. The support device includes rods articulated at their lower ends to the suspension elements and at their upper ends to the wheel carrier so as to confer on the wheel a degree of camber freedom relative to the suspension elements. The camber movement takes place around an instantaneous center of rotation. The device is also configured in such manner that Y and Z are respectively the abscissa and ordinate of the instantaneous position of the instantaneous center of rotation in the camber plane, wherein such position, during a camber deflection from 0° to 1°, satisfies the following conditions: Y?0.125*R Z??0.0625*R Z?0.66225*Y+0.

  • Publication number: 20060186626
Abstract: A vehicle suspension device includes a camber mechanism which imparts to the wheels a degree of freedom of the camber relative to the suspension elements. The wheels are linked to the suspension elements so that the camber movement of each wheel permits, around a mean position of the wheel, an instantaneous centre of rotation (CIR r/s). A camber connection structure transmits the camber movements of one wheel to another wheel. The instantaneous position of the instantaneous centre of rotation within the camber plane for a zero camber of a wheel satisfies the following condition: Z?(0.75)Y?(0.12158)R wherein Z and Y are the ordinate and abscissa, respectively, of the instantaneous position, and R is the wheel radius.

  • Publication number: 20050280240
Abstract: The invention concerns a support device (3, 6, 7) designed to connect a wheel (2) to suspension elements (4, 8, 9) of a vehicle, said wheel (2) of radius ‘R’ being designed to rest on the ground (S), said support device comprising rods (6, 7) articulated at their lower ends to the suspension elements (4, 8, 9) and at their upper ends to the wheel carrier (3) so as to confer on said wheel a degree of camber freedom relative to said suspension elements (4, 8, 9), the camber movement taking place around an instantaneous centre of rotation (CIR r/s), said device being characterised in that it is also configured in such manner that, Y and Z being respectively the abscissa and ordinate of the instantaneous position of said instantaneous centre of rotation in the camber plane, said position, during a camber deflection from 0° to ?1°, at the same time satisfies the following conditions: Y?0.125*R Z??0.0625*R Z?0.66225*Y+0.

  • Publication number: 20050179225
Abstract: The invention concerns a suspension system (1) designed to connect a wheel support (3) to a vehicle body (5), the said system comprising means (4) that confer on the wheel support, relative to the body, a degree of camber freedom and a degree of freedom of the vertical deflection of the suspension which are independent of one another, the said suspension system comprising an anti-roll device capable of controlling the roll of the body, the said anti-roll device being in addition arranged such that it influences the camber variation as a function of the difference between the vertical deflection of the said wheel relative to that of the opposite wheel on the same axle.

  • Publication number: 20050051976
Abstract: In a suspension system that connects a wheel support to a vehicle body, the wheel support is designed to carry a wheel of radius “r”, the wheel is intended to rest on the ground via a contact area, the system includes an arrangement that confers upon the wheel support, relative to the body, a degree of freedom of the camber and a degree of freedom of the deflection of the suspension that are independent of one another. The system is configured such that the camber movement of the wheel support relative to the body has, around a mean position, an instantaneous center of rotation (CIR r/c) located within a range from 2.5 r above ground to r below ground.

  • Patent number: 6688620
Abstract: A vehicular suspension device comprises a wheel carrier which is articulated relative to the suspension elements. This connection is provided by rigid connection rods. This additional degree of freedom permits variation of the camber angle independently of the suspension spring movement and of the deformations of its elements. The variation of the camber is preferably controlled by the forces sustained by the wheel in the ground contact area of the tire. This is obtained by a configuration in which the movements of the wheel relative to the body of the vehicle allow an instantaneous center of rotation which is situated beneath the plane of the ground.

  • Publication number: 20030071430
Abstract: A vehicular suspension device (1) comprises a wheel carrier (31) which is articulated relative to the suspension elements (18, 19). This connection is provided by rigid connection rods (6, 7). This additional degree of freedom permits variation of the camber angle (&agr;) independently of the suspension spring movement and of the deformations of its elements. The variation of the camber is preferably controlled by the forces sustained by the wheel (2) in the ground contact area (AC) of the tire. This is obtained by a configuration in which the movements of the wheel (2) relative to the body (5) of the vehicle allow an instantaneous center of rotation (CIR r/c) which is situated beneath the plane of the ground (S).
