Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for recovering oil from an oil-reservoir comprising at least the steps of a) providing solid particles and water, whereby the solid particles comprise at least one layered double hydroxide of general formula (I), b) combining the solid particles and water with the oil in the oil-reservoir, c) mixing the components of step b) to obtain an emulsion containing droplets, wherein the emulsion comprises the solid particles, water and oil, d) transferring the emulsion out of the oil-reservoir, and e) recovering the solid particles of the emulsion.
