Abstract: A water closet (WC) or toilet bowl usable in either in the: 1) sitting, 2) front facing squatting, or 3) rear facing squatting postures. The WC consists of an elongated receptacle (10) similar in ratio of length to width to an eastern squatting-type WC, with shrouds (11) at each end to contain urine spray and footrests on each side, at a slightly lower level than the receptacle, but at such a height above the floor that mounting the footrests is not uncomfortably precarious. The volume below the receptacle and footrests is used for a cistern, fed from a normal pressurised water supply, so that the flush water source is near the siphon jet entrance at the front part of the S-bend. A hinged seat, of suitable thickness/height so that when folded down and resting on the receptacle, forms a suitably high ring-shaped sitting surface.

Abstract: An embodiment may include circuitry to establish, at least in part, a secure communication channel between, at least in part, a client in a first domain and a server in a second domain. The channel may include a first and second domain sessions in the first and second domains. The circuitry may generate first and second domain session keys that may encrypt, at least in part, respectively, the first and second domain sessions. The first domain session key may be generated based upon a first domain key assigned to the first domain and a first data set associated with the first domain session. The second domain session key may be generated based upon a second domain key assigned to the second domain and a second data set associated with the second domain session.

Abstract: A dual opening nursing bottle includes a bottle body having a top opening and a bottom opening, a nipple attached to the top opening of the bottle body, a top cap fastened to the top opening of the bottle body to hold down the nipple in place, a bottom cap fastened to the bottom opening of the bottle body and having a center through hole, a pad detachably mounted inside the bottom cap to seal the bottom opening of the bottle body, and a one-way air valve installed in the pad for allowing outside air to be sucked into the inside of the bottle body and prohibiting the contained fluid from flowing out of the bottom body through the bottom opening.

Abstract: The invention relates to 4-[(3-ethynylphenyl)amino]-6,7-benzo-12-crown-quinazoline hydrochloride, its new crystalline forms, its therapeutic usage for treatment of diseases mediated by EGFR kinase and its combinatory therapeutic usage together with other therapeutic agents. The invention also provides synthetic methods for preparation of 4-[(3-ethynylphenyl)amino]-6,7-benzo-12-crown-quinazoline hydrochloride, its new crystalline forms, and the relevant synthetic intermediates for synthesis of 4-[(3-ethynylphenyl)amino]-6,7-benzo-12-crown-quinazoline hydrochloride.

Abstract: A method of treating a laser-activated thermoplastic substrate having a metal compound dispersed therein is described. The substrate is contacted with an aqueous composition comprising: (i) a thiol functional organic compound; (ii) an ethoxylated alcohol surfactant; and (iii) xanthan gum. By use of the treatment composition, when the substrate is subsequently laser-activated and plated by electroless plating, extraneous plating of the substrate is substantially eliminated.

Abstract: A novel capacitive touch system includes a first controller having a plurality of channels, a first sensor row having a first discrete sensor element and a second discrete sensor element, a second sensor row having a first discrete sensor element and a second discrete sensor element, a first sensor column, a second sensor column, and a first signal line electrically coupling one of the plurality of channels of the controller to both the first and second discrete sensor elements of the first sensor row. In a particular embodiment, the first controller includes a second channel electrically connected to both the first and second discrete sensor elements of the second sensor row.

Abstract: A light source driving device for driving a light source includes a power stage circuit, a transformer circuit, a control circuit, and a fault detecting circuit. The power stage circuit converts an external electrical signal to an alternating current (AC) signal. The transformer circuit is connected between the power stage circuit and the light source to convert the AC signal to a high voltage electrical signal adapted for driving the light source. The fault detecting circuit detects whether the light source is nonfunctional, and outputs a fault signal upon the condition that the light source is nonfunctional. The fault detecting circuit includes a voltage level comparison circuit and a variable-benchmark voltage circuit. The control circuit is connected between the fault detecting circuit and the power stage circuit to output a control signal to the power stage circuit based on the fault signal.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for preparing multiple metal oxides and intermediate compound, i.e. spherical nickelous hydroxide which is lopped. The intermediate compound is prepared by: mixing bivalent nickel salt, cobalt salt, ammonia water and ammonium salt to form solution containing complex; then adding the said solution containing complex with the mixture solution of metal salt(s) and alkali into reaction vessel in parallel flow, stirring to form precipitate of spherical nickelous hydroxide which is dopped, and washing to remove the impurities. The resulting spherical nickelous hydroxide which is dopped, as an intermediate compound, can be used to produce multiple metal oxides. The resulting multiple metal oxides can be used as anode active material. The spherical nickelous hydroxide has advantages of uniform size and narrow size distribution. The multiple metal oxides has high electric conductivity and cycle performance, particularly, is suitable to be used as anode material.

Abstract: Techniques are provided for performing transaction-aware caching of metadata in an electronic file system. A mechanism is described for providing transaction-aware caching that uses a cache hierarchy, where the cache hierarchy includes uncommitted caches associated with sessions in an application and a committed cache that is shared among the sessions in that application. Techniques are described for caching document metadata, access control metadata and folder path metadata. Also described is a technique for using negative cache entries to avoid unnecessary communications with a server when applications repeatedly request non-existent data.

The body network devices can be configured to support communication of status data, physiological information, alerts, control signals, and other information between one another. In addition, the body network devices can be configured to support networked communication of status data, physiological information, alerts, control signals, and other information between the body network devices and “external” devices, systems, or communication networks. Such external communication allows the infusion system to be extended beyond the traditional short-range user environment.

The impeller includes a hub, a blade ring surrounding the hub, a plurality of first blades extending from the hub to the blade ring, and a plurality of second blades extending from the blade ring. Each first blade includes an inner portion between the hub and the blade ring, and an outer portion extending from the blade ring. The second blades and the outer portions of the first blades are arranged in alternating fashion along a circumferential direction of the blade ring. In each pair of an outer portion and an adjacent second blade, the outer portion and the second blade are curved outwards away from each other toward substantially opposite directions.

Abstract: A method determines a color at a plurality of locations in a region of overlap of a first graphic element and a second graphic element, with each graphic element having a color value and a partial opacity value defined at each location. The method includes the steps of determining a transfer color as a combination of the color value of the first graphic element and the color value of the second graphic element, with the transfer color being independent of the opacity values of each element, and determining a first color value of a set of possible color values. At least one color value in the set of possible color values is derived from the transfer color, and another color value in the set of possible color values is derived from the color value of at least one of the first graphical element and the second graphical element.

The sliding block is mounted slidably on the base. The connector is connected securely to the sliding block between the rail bracket and the base and has two clasping tabs engaging the base. The buffering device is mounted in the auto-returning device to prevent the drawer from returning too fast and has a damper and a drive shaft being connected to the connector.

Abstract: In some embodiments, a processor-based system may include at least one processor, at least one memory coupled to the at least one processor, a boot block stored at a first memory location, a capsule update stored at a second memory location, a startup authenticated code module to ensure the integrity of the boot block upon a restart of the processor-based system, code which is executable by the processor-based system to cause the processor-based system to validate the boot block with the startup authenticated code module upon the restart of the processor-based system, and, if the boot block is successfully validated, to validate the capsule update for the processor-based system with the startup authenticated code module. Abstract: Catalysts are described in which an active catalyst is disposed on a low surface area, oxide support. Methods of forming catalysts are described in which a Cr-containing metal is oxidized to form a chromium oxide layer and an active catalyst is applied directly on the chromium oxide layer. Methods of making new catalysts are described in which the surface is sonicated prior to depositing the catalyst. Catalyst systems and methods of oxidation are also described. The inventive systems, catalysts and methods are, in some instances, characterized by surprisingly superior results.

Abstract: The present invention uses a novel adaptive soft decision device in order to jointly optimize decision device and DFE operation. The soft decision device receives the input and output samples of the slicer and generates a feedback sample by non-linearly combining them with respect to a single decision reference parameter. Moreover, the soft decision device provides novel error terms used to adapt equalizer coefficients in order to jointly optimize decision device and equalizer coefficients.
