  • Publication number: 20250119023
Abstract: A hybrid module is configured for arrangement in a torque path upstream from a transmission and downstream from an internal combustion engine. The hybrid module includes a hybrid drive unit including an electric motor including a rotor. The rotor includes a rotor carrier carrying magnets. The hybrid module also includes a torque converter including a clutch assembly formed by a front cover, a friction material and a piston. The piston is operable to selectively force the friction material into the front cover. The hybrid module also includes a connector non-rotatably fixing the rotor to the torque converter. The connector is formed as a single piece with the front cover and being received in the rotor carrier such that no portion of the connector protrudes from the front cover toward the piston.

  • Publication number: 20210180669
Abstract: A torque converter includes an impeller and a cover non-rotatably fixed to the impeller. The cover has opposing inner and outer surfaces and a through hole extending from the inner surface to the outer surface. A lug has a collar adjacent the outer surface, a shank extending from a first side of the collar, and a stem extending from a second side of the collar. The stem is disposed in the hole and attached to the cover by a connection.

  • Publication number: 20210180670
Abstract: A torque converter includes an impeller and a turbine configured to fluidly couple with the impeller. A bypass clutch has a hydraulically actuated piston, an apply chamber, and a compensation chamber. A turbine hub is attached to the turbine and has an inner circumferential surface defining axially extending teeth configured to connect with a shaft. A flow-control sleeve is axially spaced from the turbine hub and has a radial tab portion attached to the turbine. The sleeve defines an orifice in fluid communication with the apply chamber or the compensation chamber.

  • Publication number: 20210088118
Abstract: A torque converter includes a case and a bypass clutch having a plate rotationally fixed to the case and a friction disk having a friction material configured to engage with the plate to rotationally couple the friction disk to the plate when the bypass clutch is engaged. The friction disk includes a first circumferential connection surface having a plurality of alternating convex and concave arcuate segments. A drive plate includes a second circumferential connection surface having a plurality of alternating convex and concave arcuate segments. The first and second connection surfaces are in meshing engagement with the convex segments of the friction disk meshing with the concave segments of the drive plate and with the concave segments of the friction disk meshing with the convex segments of the drive plate.

  • Publication number: 20200271206
Abstract: A torque converter having a two-part turbine is provided. The torque converter includes an impeller rotatable about an axis. A turbine is axially spaced from the impeller and rotatable about the axis. The turbine includes a turbine shell and a turbine hub non-rotatably fixed to the turbine shell. In embodiments, the turbine hub and the turbine shell do not overlap in an axial face-to-face contacting relationship. In embodiments, the turbine hub and the turbine shell each terminate at an end surface that face one another in direct connection. The connection of the turbine hub and the turbine shell may be at a location of a bulge or apex of the turbine so as to inhibit turbine deflection of that location during operation of the torque converter.

  • Publication number: 20200063843
Abstract: A stator assembly of a torque converter includes a stator having circumferentially arranged blades, an inner ring, and projections circumferentially arranged around the inner ring and extending radially inward therefrom. An annular plate is circumscribed by the inner ring and has a plurality of attachment portions circumferentially arranged around an outer surface of the plate. Each of the attachment portions engages with an associated one of the projections and has a pair of spaced anti-rotation tabs that define a receptacle. The receptacle receives the associated one of the projections to prevent relative rotation between the stator and the plate.
