Patent number: 7992236Abstract: A mock shower drain for temporary, in-situ installation within a shower area that is configured to utilize an integrated bonding flange drain, the mock shower drain includes a lower section operable to mate with a drain fitting installed in the shower area, the drain fitting operable to mate with a corresponding lower section of an integrated bonding flange drain. An upper section is sized to fit within a cavity formed in a subfloor of the shower area sized to receive a corresponding section of the integrated bonding flange drain. A cap section is coupled to the upper section, the cap section forming a barrier to resist passage of debris to the drain fitting. An intermediate section intercouples the upper section and the cap section. The mock drain is dimensioned such that an uppermost portion of the mock drain is elevated at least as high as to be substantially flush with the subfloor of the shower area when the lower section of the mock drain is mated with the drain fitting.Type: GrantFiled: March 1, 2006Date of Patent: August 9, 2011Assignee: Schluter Systems, L.P.Inventor: Lonnie C. Patent number: 5022430Abstract: A drainage disk is disclosed for placement around a drain opening in a floor of the type comprising a mortar layer, and a novel drain construction is provided wherein the drainage disk is positioned between the floor pan and the mortar which is laid over the floor pan. The drainage disk comprises a disk-shaped piece of relatively thin sheet material having a central opening therein. A plurality of elongate valleys are formed in the disk, with the valleys extending radially outwardly from the central opening in the disk piece. In the drain construction, the disk overlies the flange portion of the drain receptor to prevent the weep channels in the drain receptor from becoming clogged or blocked with extraneous matter. The valleys in the disk provide drainage from the pan to the weep channels in the drain receptor.Type: GrantFiled: January 9, 1990Date of Patent: June 11, 1991Inventor: Lonnie C. Degooyer

Patent number: 4899512Abstract: A spacer and fabric mesh reinforcement member for use in laying of glass blocks to form unique wall structure is disclosed. The spacer and fabric mesh member takes the form of an elongate slab having two strips of fabric mesh attached to the respective upper and lower surfaces of the slab. One of the strips of fabric mesh extends outwardly from the first end of the slab adjacent to the upper surface of the slab, and the second strip of fabric mesh extends outwardly from the second end of the slab adjacent to the lower surface of the slab. When the spacer and fabric mesh members are embedded in the lateral joints between courses of blocks, the members are positioned end-to-end, and the extending ends of the strip of fabric mesh cover the butts between the members.Type: GrantFiled: February 10, 1988Date of Patent: February 13, 1990Inventor: Lonnie C. Patent number: 4862668Abstract: A method of laying tiles to maintain uniform spacing between rows and columns of the tiles is disclosed. The method comprisesspreading a mastic material on the substrate to which the tiles are to be applied;placing the tiles in columns and rows on the substrate and in contact with the mastic on the substrate;placing spacer elements between the corners of adjacent tiles as the tiles are laid, wherein the spacer elements are made of a solid, semi-rigid, foamed polymeric material;allowing the mastic to set and firmly adhere the laid tiles to the substrate;applying a flame to the spacer elements between the tiles after the tiles have been firmly adhered to the substrate to melt and burn the polymeric material of the spacer elements so as to create substantially open channels between the adjacent tiles; andfilling the channels between the tiles with a grout. A single piece spacer element is also disclosed for insertion between corner joint spaces between tiles for uniform spacing of the tiles.Type: GrantFiled: July 15, 1988Date of Patent: September 5, 1989Inventor: Lonnie C. Patent number: 4590731Abstract: A modular reinforcing grid for reinforcing and supporting a bed of mortar on a supporting surface. The grid is made up of thin strips positioned on edge and arranged to define openings of geometric shape. Mounting posts form junctions between adjacent strips to provide uniform depth to the grid. The exposed edges of the strips and the upper surfaces of the mounting posts lie in approximately the same plane to provide a grid for floating the mortar to a uniform depth. The grid is molded in uniform sizes and shapes with interlocking edges to provide continuous reinforcement and support for the mortar bed.Type: GrantFiled: August 10, 1983Date of Patent: May 27, 1986Inventor: Lonnie C.
