An anode current collector (16) contacts the anode and substantially encases the cathode collector, cathode, electrolyte and anode. An insulator (18) occupies the spaces between the components and the anode current collector.

    Abstract: An electrochemical conversion system 10 is disclosed having a housing (11) which includes boiling chamber (12), a cell holding block (13), and a condensing chamber (14) coupled by conduits. The system also includes an electrochemical cell (23) mounted within the cell holding block, a heater (24) mounted in thermal communication with the boiling chamber, and a cooler (25). With the energization of the heater a portion of the working fluid is heated to a vapor state so as to create a high total pressure with a low partial pressure of hydrogen gas upon one side of the electrochemical cell, while simultaneously a high partial pressure of hydrogen gas is developed on the opposite side of the cell. The hydrogen partial pressure differential across the cell causes an electrical potential across the cell as hydrogen migrates across the cell.

The hydrogen concentration cell has a first gas diffusion electrode (20), a second gas diffusion electrode (21) and a proton conductive membrane (22) therebetween. The release of hydrogen from one of the masses of hydride material and its redox reaction creates an electrical potential across the cell. The housing first chamber (71) is tapered so that the housing easily pierces the ground upon impact from an elevated position.

    Abstract: Systems and methods for producing a multilayer thin film energy storage device having a plurality of thin film battery cells arranged to provide a higher output than a single cell thin film battery. The thin film battery cells are configured so that they stacked one on another with at least one thin film battery cell positioned upside down on top of another thin film battery cell. Alternatively, the thin film battery cells may be arranged in a side-by-side configuration. Each thin film battery cell includes a thin film layer of cathode material and anode material with an electrolyte material disposed between and separating the cathode material and anode material. A thin film current collector is positioned adjacent to each cathode and anode thin film layer. The particular pattern of thin films of current collectors, anodes, electrolytes and cathodes serves to a provide a high output necessary for particular applications.

    Abstract: A rocket launcher (10) is provided having a manual air pump (11) coupled to a base unit (12) through an elongated pressure tube (13) having a pressure release valve or trigger (20). The base unit has a pressure chamber (24), a launch tube (25), and an orientation sensitive safety mechanism (32) coupled to the end of the pressure tube. The safety mechanism is coupled to an internal pressure tube (33) which extends to a pressure sensitive release valve (34) that controls the release of pressurized air from the launch tube. The orientation sensitive safety mechanism prevents the launching of projectiles should the launch tube be offset from a vertical orientation and depressurizes the launcher should an operator attempt to fire the launcher while in an offset orientation.

    Abstract: An apparatus for extracting plasticizer from polymer structures includes, in one embodiment, a evacuation chamber, a heat source and a cooling chamber are all coupled to a conduit having a motorized fan for cycling gases through the components. The plasticizer is evaporated within the evacuation chamber by the heat source and entrained in a gaseous stream passing through the evacuation chamber. The plasticizer enriched gases are then passed through the cooling chamber wherein the plasticizer is condensed prior to being cycled back to the evacuation chamber. A gas heater aid in maintaining a constant gas flow temperature within the evacuation chamber.

The pressure chamber has a release valve (16) therein and an annular seal (48) sized for sealing engagement with the launch tube. The launch tube is reciprocally moved between a loading position with the launch tube opening (50) positioned on one side of the pressure chamber seal (48) and a firing position with the launch tube opening (50) positioned on an opposite side of the pressure chamber seal (48).

A liquid entry tube (24) configured to draw air into a stream of liquid passing through the liquid entry tube is coupled to the separation chamber so that the air/liquid mixtures rotates within the separation chamber. The rotation of the mixture causes air to accumulate within a central zone (30) and the liquid to accumulate about a peripheral zone (31). The continued flow of the mixture causes the accumulating air to become pressurized where it is released through an air exit tube (20) in fluid communication with the central zone of the separation chamber. The liquid is expelled through a liquid exit port (18).

The sealing member has a sealing head (431) having a first portion (432) sized and shaped to overlap the housing about the fluid outlet and a second portion sized and shaped to be received within the fluid outlet.
