Abstract: A load binder includes a lever and a clevis each being connected to respective securing members for securing to a load or a tie member such as a chain or a rope. Each of the securing members includes a retaining member for retaining a swivel bolt. The swivel bolts are cast in one piece with a head and a shaft. The retaining members are also cast with an opening of suitable size and shape to receive the heads of their respective swivel bolts. While the retaining members are still at an elevated temperature from the casting process, the head of the swivel bolt is inserted through the respective openings and the retaining members are then deformed while at an elevated temperature to capture the respective heads of the swivel bolts.

Abstract: A portable winch incorporating at one end a mechanism for providing its suspension from a stabilized support, said frame member having a cable winding drum provided therein, and a handle lever operatively associated with the drum and disposing a ratchet pawl for engagement with the ratchet wheel of the drum, in order to provide for a winding of the cable upon the drum, for lifting or supporting of a load, or for providing its gradual release therefrom. The ratchet pawl of the handle lever capable of manipulating into two positions, one providing for its permanent engagement with the ratchet wheel teeth, or in the alternative, through a maneuvering of its supporting spring, can be shifted out of engagement with the ratchet wheel teeth. A stop pawl operatively associates with the frame member and normally in engagement with the ratchet wheel, to maintain it in its wound position during manipulation of the handle lever.

Abstract: An adjustable load binder incorporating a link that is eccentrically and pivotally connected with a clevis, each having a hook securing in opposite directions for providing attachment of the binder with a chain or other tie-down, an adjustable member securing within the construction of the binder, preferably intermediate one or both of the hooks and their connection with their respective lever and clevis, and which adjusment member can be manipulated, through a turning of its integral sleeve, to provide for a lengthening or contraction in the distance between the oppositely extending grab hooks for furnishing a way in which the mechanic can quickly adjust the attachment of the load binder into a tie down position.
