  • Publication number: 20200018133
Abstract: A connector for connecting two subsea well assembly components; wherein the connector is arranged such that it can be preloaded in both tension and compression concurrently. The connector includes a tension part which in use can be in tension and a compression part that in use can be in compression. The tension part has an adjustable length and/or the compression part has an adjustable length. There is also provided a subsea well assembly, that includes a first subsea well assembly component; and a second subsea well assembly component; wherein the first subsea well assembly component and the second subsea well assembly component are connected to each other to provide a well conduit therebetween. The first subsea well assembly component and the second subsea well assembly component are connected such that forces can be transmitted both in tension and compression between the two components without going through the well conduit.

  • Publication number: 20190162038
Abstract: A method of installing or removing a subsea wellhead assembly is provided. The method comprising providing a suction anchor that in use acts as a subsea well foundation, wherein the suction anchor comprises an outer suction skirt; and an inner member, wherein the inner member comprises a high pressure wellhead housing; and installing or removing the suction anchor together with the high pressure wellhead housing on or from a seabed.

  • Patent number: 10202843
Abstract: A method and apparatus for measuring a property of settling of a first phase in a second fluid phase of a mixture. In order to measure the property of settling, the mixture may be contained in a chamber, an acoustic wave may be repeatedly passed vertically through the mixture, a transit time may be measured for each acoustic wave to traverse the mixture, and the property of settling using a change in the transit times of the acoustic waves may then be determined. In various embodiments, the property of settling can be a degree of settling.

  • Patent number: 9605495
Abstract: A pressure joint is provided for use with a floating installation (1) that is connected to a stiff riser (3, 12). A low pressure slip joint (5) connects the installation (1) to the stiff riser (3, 12). A telescopic assembly (13, 14) fitted with a high pressure seal (15) is arranged to be fitted within the low pressure slip joint (5) when in a non-extended configuration, such that normal operation of the low pressure slip joint (5) is not impeded.

  • Patent number: 9334697
Abstract: An apparatus for use with a subsea well includes an upper riser part, a lower riser part, and a weak link coupling the upper and lower riser parts together; and a mechanism coupled between the upper and lower riser parts for damping recoil of the upper riser part following a breaking of the weak link, damping resulting from a plastic deformation of a component or components of the mechanism occurring as the upper and lower riser parts separate.
