  • Patent number: 5596080
Abstract: This invention provides a process for making crosslinked zein, comprising heating zein in the presence of water to a temperature of at least 130.degree. C., with or without pressure, to induce crosslinking.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 3, 1994
Date of Patent: January 21, 1997
Assignee: E. I. Du Pont de Nemours and Company
    Inventor: Lorenzo F. Pelosi
  • Patent number: 5356374
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for treating blood. The process involves separating the blood into plasma and cellular components. The plasma component is passed through a column containing a polyimide particulate carrier. The polyimide carrier contains immobilized proteins, such as protein A, bonded to its surface. The polyimide carrier can be used for removing or modifying a biochemically active substance in the blood plasma.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 28, 1992

Assignee: E. I. Du Pont de Nemours and Company
Inventors: John J. Hogan, Alexander Kopatsis, Lorenzo F. Pelosi, Patrick T. Shannon
  • Patent number: 4931172
Abstract: This invention relates to fluoride ion-selective electrodes which employ, as the active membrane component, a ternary compound of the type M.sub.x Ln.sub.y F.sub.3-x, where M is an alkaline earth metal ion such as calcium, strontium or barium, and Ln is a lanthanide metal ion such as lanthanum, cerium, prosiodymium, neodymium, promethium, samarium and europium.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 2, 1988
Date of Patent: June 5, 1990
Assignee: E. I. Du Pont de Nemours and Company

Inventors: George V. DeLucca, Lorenzo F. Pelosi, John P. O'Brien
  • Patent number: 4226954
Abstract: Reduced odor is achieved in certain reactive fluid adhesive compositions while maintaining adequate adhesive properties by using higher molecular weight (C.sub.10 -C.sub.18) acrylic and methacrylic ester monomers in combination with minor quantities of diacrylate or dimethacrylate monomers, instead of lower molecular weight acrylic and methacrylic ester monomers generally used in such adhesives.
