  • Patent number: 10758028
Abstract: A disposable unit dose package for frozen cosmetic or personal care products that can provide a chilling effect during application. The main components of the package are a reservoir and an applicator. The reservoir may be interiorly divided to hold more than one product. The applicator comprises a handle and one or more applicator heads depending from the handle. In use, a product in the reservoir is frozen, which causes the product to bond to the applicator head. The handle is used to lift the frozen product out of the reservoir, and draw the frozen product over the skin. As it melts from the heat of the skin, the product can be spread on the skin.

  • Patent number: 6481445
Abstract: A mascara brush has bristles that are wider and stiffer than conventional “soft” bristles. The brush has a central core formed from a pair of twisted wire segments. A plurality of radially extending bristles is secured between the pair of twisted wire segments to form a brush portion at an end of the core. The bristles are secured in a quantity of from 4 to 27 bristles per turn of the twisted wire segments. Each of the bristles has a diameter of from 8 mil to 18 mil and is made from a thermoplastic elastomer material having a durometer of between 62D and 82D. Preferably, the bristles have a diameter of 10 mil to 13 mil, are made from an elastomeric polyester material having a durometer of about 72D and are secured in a quantity of from 7-14 bristles per turn. The material from which the bristles are made is softer than the material from which conventional bristles are made to ensure that the bristles will be supple enough to facilitate application and avoid irritation to the user.

  • Patent number: 6287034
Abstract: A container for pasty cosmetic product permits access to a larger percentage of the contained product. The hollow container has a wall that defines an internal chamber. At least a portion of the wall is flexible. A neck provides access to the internal chamber. An applicator projects into the container and is attached to a cap which closes the container about the neck. Otherwise inaccessible product is deposited on the applicator by squeezing the flexible portions of the container wall, thereby avoiding waste of product adhered to the innerternal surface of the container.

Abstract: A container for a pasty cosmetic product has a wall defining an internal chamber. At least part of the wall is flexible. The container has a neck that provides access to the internal chamber. An applicator projects into the container and is attached to a cap that closes the container about the neck. Squeezing the flexible wall portion of the container permits the user to deposit product onto the applicator that would otherwise be inaccessible, thereby avoiding waste of product adhered to the inner wall of the container. This permits access by the consumer to a larger percentage of the contained product than has typically been possible in the traditional container.

  • Patent number: 5941605
Abstract: This invention provides a method for cutting the bristles of a cosmetic brush by means of a laser beam, which comprises directing a focused laser beam on a bristle, the beam remaining focused on the bristle for a time sufficient to cut through the bristle. The increased accuracy of the laser beam as a cutting tool provides for brush designs which are unable to be achieved by conventional cutting methods.

  • Patent number: 5709230
Abstract: A mascara brush having three sections of differing bristle configuration is disclosed. The brush portion has a larger diameter middle section comprised of a combination of soft and stiff bristles in random configuration, and two end sections, each of which is comprised of at least one bristle type which preferably become progressively shorter towards the ends of the brush portion. The end sections exhibit less bristle density than the middle section. This improved brush configuration allows for optimal one-stroke mascara application.

Abstract: A mascara brush having three sections and three types of bristles is disclosed. The brush portion has a larger diameter middle section comprised of a combination of soft and stiff bristles in random configuration, and two end sections comprised of hollow filaments which preferably become progressively shorter towards the ends of the brush portion. The end sections exhibit less bristle density than the middle section. This improved brush configuration allows for optimal one-stroke mascara application.
