  • Patent number: 5126306
Abstract: A catalyst system composition and a dimerization process utilizing said catalyst system composition are disclosed. The catalyst system composition comprises at least one elemental alkali metal combined with at least one particulate solid, and optionally a promoter, to form a slurry. This catalyst system is contacted with at least one olefin in order to produce a dimerized product.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 24, 1991
Date of Patent: June 30, 1992
    Assignee: Phillips Petroleum Company
Inventors: Charles A. Drake, Lori C. Hasselbring
  • Patent number: 5081093
Abstract: Catalyst supports, catalyst systems, methods for the preparation thereof, in dimerization processes therewith are provided. Catalyst supports are prepared from extruding alkali metal carbonate and a liquid. Optionally, the extruded catalyst support further comprises a carbonaceous compound. Catalyst systems comprise at least one elemental alkali metal deposited on the extruded catalyst support. Optionally, the catalyst system further comprises of at least one promoter. A hydrided catalyst system is prepared by contacting the catalyst system with hydrogen to reduce the dimerization induction period.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 5, 1990
Date of Patent: January 14, 1992
    Assignee: Phillips Petroleum Company
    Inventor: Lori C. Hasselbring
  • Patent number: 4982043
Abstract: Catalyst systems, methods to improve a catalyst system, and dimerization processes therewith are provided. Catalyst systems which comprise at least one elemental alkali metal supported on an alkali metal carbonate catalyst support, are contacted with a liquid organic solvent in order to improve the isomer ratio of the desired reaction product(s) to undesired product(s).
