  • Publication number: 20050108216
Abstract: A method, system, and computer program device implements a search in, for example, a healthcare provider medical information portal. For example, instead of having to type or key a search item into an interface, the search may be conducted, automatically, for data records relevant to the item by executing a search query event. More particularly, the search query event identifies the item, which may be displayed in a user interface, to be searched. In addition to identifying the item, the search query event also initiates the search. In one example, the search query event includes positioning a cursor over a phrase, term or other item displayed on a webpage and clicking a mouse button. The present invention requires fewer interactions to execute a search. The search technique may be implemented with any type of portal.

  • Publication number: 20040078224
Abstract: The invention provides a method, system, and computer program device for an embedded search with site search summary. The search provides an easy-to-navigate user interface that is also intuitive for healthcare professionals, for specifying the search request, and for displaying the search results together with a site search summary. In order to specify the search request, the user enters the keyword or phrase of interest and chooses a category of resources in which to search, where the categories correspond to physician-intuitive groupings of types of resources. A search specific results page including a site search summary box and initially indicating search results within category is returned, both of which thereby provide a number of possibilities for drill down.

  • Publication number: 20040078225
Abstract: The invention provides a method, system, and computer program device for an interactive continuing education system, for managing and/or providing continuing education activities, especially useful for healthcare professionals. The invention may provide a personal profile, to provide a snapshot of the user's CE activities vis-à-vis CE requirements; a curriculum manager, to provide details on CE activities in a user's curriculum; a catalog browser, for reviewing/searching a catalog of available CE activities; a transcript manager for tracking completed activities and providing customizable transcripts; a showcase of selected CE activities; and a CE assistant feature, for notifying a user of new CE activities which fit the user's preference. The system accommodates a catalog of available CE activities, and enable a user to easily launch and automatically track CE activities. Each user has a curriculum of on-going CE activities, and a transcript of completed CE activities.

  • Publication number: 20030222900
Abstract: The invention provides a method, system, and computer program device for allowing users to preview and/or choose one or more slides and slidekits to be incorporated into a professional presentation. Intended users include physicians and other healthcare providers. Slidekits are displayed by medical categories to which they are assigned. Each slidekit includes a series of interrelated slides concerning a particular medical topic. Each slide may include lecture notes, in addition to a thumbnail image, full image display, title, and/or brief description. Slides and/or slidekits may be downloaded to the user's remote computer, for further incorporation into a presentation, printed by the user, or stored in the user's folder. • Publication number: 20030217159
Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for sharing session information. The system comprises a database system, a first computer system capable of accessing the database system, and a second computer system also capable of accessing the database system. A user accesses a first website hosted by the first computer system, and a session is initialized for the user. A profile object is created for the user and serialized. The serialized profile object is subsequently stored in the database system with a key. The second computer system queries the database system in order to retrieve the serialized profile object matching the key. The second computer deserializes the profile object and restores the session at the second website together with shared session information.

  • Publication number: 20030217291
Abstract: A method of securely transferring user information between a website server and at least one external website server to authenticate a user with the at least one external website server includes receiving a request for accessing an external website server by the user and determining whether the user is not logged on to the website server. If the user is not logged on, the user is logged on to the website server by the user. A secure connection from the website server to the at least one external website server is generated and the user information is transferred from the website server to the at least one external website server by a HTTP GET protocol and/or a HTTP POST protocol.
