    Abstract: A coating composition for application to a substrate includes a polymer matrix and a mineral aggregate substantially free of crystalline silica. The mineral aggregate is utilized as a partial or complete replacement for aggregate containing free respirable crystalline silica traditionally included in anti-slip or anti-skid coating compositions. Methods of making the coating and coating a substrate with the coating composition to provide a slip- or skid-resistant coating on a surface of a substrate are also disclosed.
