Publication number: 20230230262Abstract: The disclosure relates generally to the field of vascular system and peripheral vascular system data collection, imaging, image processing and feature detection relating thereto. In part, the disclosure more specifically relates to methods for detecting position and size of contrast cloud in an x-ray image including with respect to a sequence of x-ray images during intravascular imaging. Methods of detecting and extracting metallic wires from x-ray images are also described herein such as guidewires used in coronary procedures. Further, methods for of registering vascular trees for one or more images, such as in sequences of x-ray images, are disclosed. In part, the disclosure relates to processing, tracking and registering angiography images and elements in such images. The registration can be performed relative to images from an intravascular imaging modality such as, for example, optical coherence tomography (OCT) or intravascular ultrasound (IVUS).Type: ApplicationFiled: March 23, 2023Publication date: July 20, 2023Applicant: LightLab Imaging, Inc.Inventors: Lorina Dascal, Itai Winkler

Publication number: 20230054891Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for identifying features of a blood vessel using extravascular and intravascular images in order to estimate a virtual flow reserve (VFR) of the imaged blood vessel. Aspects of the disclosure include using extravascular images to estimate the size of the blood vessel in regions that have not been intravascularly imaged. The VFR estimation may be based on a resistance model that incorporates both the intravascular image data and the estimated blood vessel size. In other aspects, multiangled extravascular images are captured and analyzed in order to identify the size and orientation of branch vessels.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 18, 2022Publication date: February 23, 2023Applicant: LightLab Imaging, Inc.Inventors: Wei Chiu, Shimin Li, Ajay Gopinath, Jacob Segev, Lorina Dascal

Publication number: 20230039065Abstract: A three-dimensional geometric image of an anatomical region is generated from a plurality of two-dimensional echographic image slices of the region. The image slices are filtered using a reaction-diffusion partial differential equation model before being arranged into a voxel space. Each voxel is then assigned a voxel value to create a volumetric data set from which the volumetric image can be rendered. The image is rendered from far to near, relative to a preset viewing direction, by an alpha-blending process. The alpha value at any given voxel can be determined using the magnitude of the density gradient vector at that voxel. Similarly, the direction of the density gradient vector at a given voxel can be used as a surface normal vector for shading purposes at that voxel.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 14, 2021Publication date: February 9, 2023Inventors: Lorina DASCAL, Oded SUDARSKY, Jacob SEGEV, Alexander DATHSKOVSKY, Yaron VALACH, Maxim YORESH

Publication number: 20210142504Abstract: The instant disclosure relates to systems and methods for identifying fiducial markers on one or more images of an anatomical region of a patient. Prior to the identification of the fiducial markers, other objects are identified and removed. In particular, some embodiments are directed toward the detection of fiducial markers in the presence of catheters and other medical devices in a fluoroscopic image. In such an embodiment, identifying and removing the medical devices from the clinical image aids in properly identifying the fiducial markers.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 8, 2018Publication date: May 13, 2021Inventors: Lorina Dascal, Itai Winkler

Patent number: 10687777Abstract: In part, the invention relates to processing, tracking and registering angiography images and elements in such images relative to images from an intravascular imaging modality such as, for example, optical coherence tomography (OCT). Registration between such imaging modalities is facilitated by tracking of a marker of the intravascular imaging probe performed on the angiography images obtained during a pullback. Further, detecting and tracking vessel centerlines is used to perform a continuous registration between OCT and angiography images in one embodiment.Type: GrantFiled: March 5, 2018Date of Patent: June 23, 2020Assignee: LIGHTLAB IMAGING, INC.Inventors: Lorina Dascal, Itai Winkler, Stavit Cohen, Amit Cohen, Desmond C.
