  • Patent number: 7255179
Abstract: A cultivator sweep assembly having a sweep adapted for releasable attachment to a shank of a mobile agricultural apparatus. The sweep assembly includes a sweep having a more narrow profile, and a coupling attached to a tapered end portion of the shank and disposed between the sweep and the supporting shank. The sweep includes a stem portion that defines a housing configured to frictionally receive and engage the tapered end portion of the shank. The end portion of the shank having the coupling attached thereto is slidably received within the housing until a projection of the coupling is received through a top opening of the housing. The projection received through the top opening indicating that the end portion of the shank is sufficiently received within the housing of the sweep, and that the sweep is mounted to the shank with sufficient force.

  • Patent number: 4782201
Abstract: A switch actuation assembly is provided with a support means for supporting the switch in a fixed position relative to orientations of a moveable member. A motion response element is operably connected to the moveable member for being moved in one of two directions in response to movement of the moveable member toward one of the orientations and for being moved in the other of the two directions in response to the movement of the moveable member toward the other of the two orientations. An actuating member is provided for engaging the switch to actuate the switch from a first position to a second position. The actuating member is in frictional contact with the motion response element whereby the actuating member is moved by the response element until any force of resistance to the movement of the actuating member exceeds the static friction force.

  • Patent number: 4750440
Abstract: A hoe-opener assembly having a "float" feature is disclosed. The present invention ties operation of several hoe openers to a common framework so that uniform depth control can be maintained. The hoe-opener assembly of the present invention is drawn behind an agricultural implement having a tool bar, and comprises a vertically movable framework. A frame lift-and-lower arrangement is provided for adjusting the spacing of the framework relative to the ground. The hoe-opener assembly includes a plurality of spring-biased hoe openers, each pivotally carried for limited pivotal movement by the framework at spaced intervals along the length thereof. A biasing-spring arrangement in operative association with each hoe-opener is provided whereby each hoe opener is substantially fixed against independent movement, relative to the framework.

  • Patent number: 4669945
Abstract: A foldable and swivelable screw conveyor mounted on a transportable storage hopper is disclosed. The storage hopper typically contains particulate material such as grain, fertilizer and the like. The present invention is directed to a spatially-compact hopper-loading screw conveyor which can be folded onto a frame portion of the storage hopper, and which can be secured thereto. The conveyor is foldable along a hinge joint and swivelable along a swivel joint. The screw conveyor has an inlet chute which can be placed on the ground. The foldability and swivelability features allow the screw conveyor to be carried in a spatially-compact fashion on the storage-hopper frame when not in use and further allow the inlet chute to be placed on the ground and extended away from the storage hopper, to convey particulate material into the storage hopper, as desired.

  • Patent number: 4344639
Abstract: A dual implement hitch for connection between a tractor and the implements for moving the implements to preferably an echelon position for field operation and to a tandem position for transport, while maintaining the tractor hitch pin on the line of pull of the implements. The hitch includes a hitch tongue pivotally connected to the tractor and to a support attached to the first implement. A curved beam is pivotally connected to the support forward of the tongue connection thereto and extends rearwardly over the first implement in the transport position to a caster wheel support and a pivotal connection to the second implement. Link means are pivotally connected to the hitch tongue and curved beam rearward of the pivotal connection of the curved beam to the support. A single hydraulic cylinder connected to the support and tongue provides the power for the movement of both implements to the noted positions from the tractor seat.

  • Patent number: 4273057
Abstract: An apparatus that includes a drawbar, a pair of furrow forming disks rotatably mounted on the drawbar, a seed tube located between the disks for depositing seed in the furrow, a press gauge wheel assembly mounted on the drawbar rearward of the disks for closing the furrow and compacting the soil on both sides of the seed, and also including adjustment structure for varying the height of the press wheel relative to the drawbar for controlling furrow depth in response to pressure exerted on the apparatus.
