  • Publication number: 20070246923
Abstract: The disclosed thermally initiatable ignition mixture comprises 30 to 85% by weight of at least one first inorganic oxidizing agent from the group consisting of the chlorates and at least one second inorganic oxidizing agent from the group consisting of the nitrates; 10 to 55% by weight of at least one combustible selected from the substance class consisting of the dicarboxylic acids, the tricarboxylic acids, the amino acids, the carboxamides, the carboxylic acid hydrazides, the carboxylic acid diamides, the carboxylic acid dihydrazides and/or derivatives thereof, and up to 8% by weight of a metal oxide.

  • Patent number: 6499764
Abstract: A gas generator includes an ignition charge, at least one ignition element for igniting the ignition charge, a storage chamber containing a compressed gas, which storage chamber is closed by a closure element, and an impact element destroying the closure element under pressure. A piston is provided as the impact element, which piston, after the destruction of the closure element, forms an exit gap with the opening closed by the closure element. The cross-sectional area of which exit gap changes in according to the position of the piston.

  • Patent number: 6289820
Abstract: The hybrid gas generator to inflate airbags comprises two combustion chambers (14, 16), in each of which a solid material charge (15, 17) is placed, and a storage chamber (11) containing a pressurized storage gas. The storage chamber (11) is connected to diffusion chamber (30) by a closing member (29) which can be perforated. The first solid material charge (15), and the second solid material charge (17) can, for instance, can be sequentially ignited by separate igniter elements (18, 19), thereby determining the pressure accumulation.

  • Patent number: 4848235
Abstract: A rotating submunition member which, subsequent to ejection from a carrier, incorporates a target detection device projecting outwardly beyond the wall contour of the member in an operating position; and a fuze arrangement for a detonator which is disposed interiorly of the wall of the submunition. The submunition member is equipped with a securing or safe-and-arm device in which the detonator is located on a movable mounting or holder, which is displaceable through the intermediary of a spring-elastic power element from the SAFE position of the detonator into its ARMED position, when a flyweight has tensioned the power element and the target detection device is displaced into its operative position projecting beyond the wall contour of the submunition member.
