  • Publication number: 20080092619
Abstract: An apparatus for reforming rod-shaped and/or tubular, electrically conductive and/or magnetizable materials, in particular for drawing or extruding: the apparatus has an inductor of an electric linear motor, by means of which a traveling electromagnetic field can be produced; the inductor includes coils which are arranged axially next to one another; the coils form a channel; the apparatus includes one or more means for conducting a magnetic flux which are arranged in the channel such that they can be removed.

    Publication date: April 24, 2008
Inventors: Werner Witte, Peter Bilstein, Lothar Illgen, Bernhard Oswald
  • Patent number: 7257979
Abstract: An apparatus for reforming rod-shaped, electrically conductive and/or magnetizable materials, in particular for drawing and extruding, having the following features: the apparatus has a female mold having a die, which forms the tool for reforming; the apparatus has an inductor of an electric linear motor, by means of which a traveling electric field can be produced; the inductor includes at least one first group at least with first coils; the first coils in the first group are arranged axially next to one another and thus form a channel; using the inductor it is possible to produce a traveling field in the channel which has a magnetic flux density having a gradient in the axial direction of the channel, which has an amplitude of greater than B=1 T.

  • Publication number: 20050022571
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a method for applying compressive and/or tractional forces to an essentially rod-shaped workpiece, according to which a mechnical engagement in the rod-shaped workpiece can be avoided. To this end, the method involves applying compressive and/or tractional forces to an essentially rod-shaped workpiece including an electroconductive and/or magnetizable material. A magnetic field is applied to the workpiece, including a gradient in the direction of the force to be applied. The disclosure also relates to a device for applying compressive and/or tractional forces to an essentially rod-shaped workpiece including electroconductive and/or magnetizable material. The device includes a coil arrangement that is supplied by a current and is designed to produce a magnetic field having a gradient.

  • Patent number: 5087344
Abstract: An electrolysis cell for gas-evolving electrolytic processes using at least one electrode having electrode elements arranged parallel is described; the electrode elements have a thickness of up to three times the mean bubble separation diameter and have a capillary gap with respect to one another such that a motion of the gas bubbles through the electrode is brought about substantially in the direction or in the opposite direction of the electric field between the reaction surfaces of the anode and cathode.
