  • Patent number: 5068402
Abstract: The present invention is directed to polyisocyanates containing a stabilizing amount of a carboxylic acid corresponding to the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 represent hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.5 -alkyl andX and Y represent hydrogen, chlorine or methyl, with the proviso that when X=Cl, Y=H or CH.sub.3 and when Y=Cl, X=H or CH.sub.3.The present invention is also directed to the use of the stabilized polyisocyanates as binders for coating compositions, sealing compounds and adhesives.

  • Patent number: 4910332
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a process for the preparation of polyisocyanates containing urethane groups in which the content in monomeric starting diisocyanate is at most 0.4% by weight by reacting in a urethane-forming reaction(a) an excess quantity, based on component (b), of a diisocyanate component containing at least one aromatic diisocyanate which is free from urethane groups with(b) a polyol component containing at least one polyhydric alcohol in the molecular weight range of 62 to about 250followed by distillative removal of the unreacted excess starting diisocyanate (a), characterized in that before the distillative removal of the excess starting diisocyanate (a) is carried out,(c) an aliphatic polyisocyanate containing isocyanurate groups is incorporated in the urethane-containing reaction product of components (a) and (b) in a quantity of about 0.

  • Patent number: 4837273
Abstract: The present invention relates to new binder combinations comprising(A) 99-30 parts by weight of OH-functional graft copolymer resins prepared by copolymerization of a polybutadiene having a molecular weight of from 500 to 10000 and containing more than 30% of 1,2-vinyl structure with selected olefinically unsaturated monomers and(B) 1 to 70 parts by weight of a multifunctional crosslinking resin, preferably a polyisocyanate resin. The new binder combinations are suitable for preparing coatings having a very high level of elasticity and an excellent surface hardness.
