  • Patent number: 6289947
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for filling a fuel tank (2) with a filling conduit (4). The fuel flow entering the tank is directed by a through flow sensor (53) in order to control and monitor the filling process. A particularly suitable tank system (1) for implementation of said method comprises a fuel tank (2), a filling tube (3) surrounding a filling conduit (4) and discharging into said fuel tank, an adsorption filler (6) connected to the gas area (8) of the tank (2) and a through-flow sensor (53) which detects the flow of fuel in the filling tube (2).

  • Patent number: 6047686
Abstract: In a safety device of a fuel system for an internal combustion engine including a fuel filter with a venting nozzle adapted to prevent the discharge of fuel through the venting nozzle of the fuel filter which is connected to a pump line, the safety device which is mounted on the vent nozzle of the fuel filter includes in its housing a semi-permeable foil which is gas permeable but not liquid permeable. The semi-permeable foil extends across the vent nozzle passage and a non-return valve is disposed in the vent nozzle passage for closing the vent nozzle passage if the semi-permeable foil ruptures.

  • Patent number: 5989413
Abstract: A fuel filter with a pressure regulating valve for fuel circulated from a fuel tank and injected into an internal combustion engine. The fuel filter comprises a filter pot closed by a cover and an annular filter element for radially filtering flow from the outside in. Fuel flows in and out through main flow connections on opposite sides of the filter. There is a recirculation connection to recirculate fuel. There is a pressure regulating valve on one end of the filter housing with the discharge connection. The pressure regulating valve operates against atmospheric pressure and has a spring-loaded diaphragm which acts in conjunction with a closure ram to close the inlet port of a recirculation flow duct which passes through the center of the filter and connects the regulating valve to the return connection. The diaphragm is fastened with the valve seat in a sealed manner to the edge of the pressure regulator housing, which open into the filter port and is formed in the cover of the filter housing.

  • Patent number: 5918580
Abstract: In a fuel tank venting system for a vehicle with an internal combustion engine having an air intake duct and an adsorption filter in which fuel vapors are adsorbed, a venting line extends from the adsorption filter to the air intake duct and includes a regeneration valve, and a bypass line is disposed in parallel with a section of the venting line and includes an air pump for pumping air from the adsorption filter to the air intake duct to provide for venting air flow particularly when the engine is operating under a high load where little vacuum is generated in the air intake duct.

  • Patent number: 5246132
Abstract: A blanking cover for the filler neck of a motor vehicle fuel tank has a grip protruding from the blanking cover body so as to ensure that reliable filler neck sealing is maintained in the case of a crash when a collision occurs between the grip and a body part. The grip can be released from the blanking cover body under the action of crash forces.

  • Patent number: 4959982
Abstract: Interlock device between an ignition lock and a manual selector lever of an automatic gear-change transmission has a first latch element interacting with the ignition lock and a second latch element interacting with the manual selector lever. The two latch elements are connected by means of a flexible adjusting linkage for transmitting tensile and compressive forces so that only in the parking position of the manual selector lever is the ignition lock actuable into its position of rest which solely allows the ignition key to be removed and wherein the manual selector lever is blocked in its parking position when the ignition lock is in the position of the rest.
