Patent number: 12053919Abstract: In a method for producing helical coils, in particular for coil screens, a filament is conveyed in a filament conveying direction through a first channel portion of a first rotation body, and subsequently conveyed through a second channel portion of a second rotation body which rotates synchronously with the first rotation body. The filament is subsequently wound around a protruding winding mandrel, such that a helical coil is produced from the filament by a continuous feed of the windings of the filament wound around the winding mandrel. A heated heating fluid flows with an excess pressure through the first channel portion and the second channel portion, arranged downstream, and in the process heats the filament conveyed through the first channel portion and subsequently through the second channel portion. The filament emerging from the second channel portion is deformed, using a deformation apparatus, prior to winding onto the winding mandrel.Type: GrantFiled: May 25, 2020Date of Patent: August 6, 2024Assignee: Leo Feinwerktechnik GmbH & Co. KGInventors: Franco Langelloti, Martin Leo, Wolfgang Bachmann, Lothar Nuss

Patent number: 6979376Abstract: A method for soldering or deforming a workpiece, according to which a sonotrode of supersonic welding device is placed on the workpiece to be machined and the oscillation amplitude of the sonotrode is modified. In order to optimize the soldering operation, the oscillation amplitude is reduced according to a pre-determined gradient during a predetermined time tx, a characteristic parameter of the workpiece is measured directly or indirectly after time tx, and the sonotrode transmits supersonic energy to the workpiece at a predefined constant or essentially constant amplitude during a period of time time ty, according to the value of the measured parameter.Type: GrantFiled: May 31, 2002Date of Patent: December 27, 2005Assignee: Stapla Ultraschalltechnik GmbHInventor: Lothar Nuss

Patent number: 5238170Abstract: A device is described for welding the ends of electrical conductors, especially strand ends, by means of ultrasonics which comprises a sonotrode, provided with a plurality of different projections, and an anvil, associated with the sonotrode, which anvil is provided with a plurality of different or like recesses which, together with the sonotrode projections, constitute compaction spaces for the strand ends. The anvil is disposed with its longitudinal axis coaxially with the longitudinal axis of the sonotrode, and the cross-sections of the compaction spaces can be simultaneously varied by rotation of the anvil relative to the sonotrode about the common longitudinal axis, so that a plurality of strand ends can be simultaneously welded by only one anvil. Several alternatives for the rotational drive of the anvil are also described.Type: GrantFiled: August 17, 1992Date of Patent: August 24, 1993Assignee: Stapla Ultraschalltechnik GmbHInventor: Lothar Nuss

Patent number: 5113574Abstract: A process for the production of an electrically conducting and mechanically solid connection between armature coil wires and hooks on the lamellas of a commutator comprising 1) laying the insulated wires around the hooks of the lamellas without stripping the insulation; 2) before bending back the hooks, at least partially destroying by thermal and/or mechanical abrading means, the varnish insulating on the wires; 3) removing the residues or remnants of the varnish insulation layer during the bending back of the hooks, by ultrasonic oscillations; 4) squeezing the removed varnish into a wedge-shaped space formed between the winding wire, the internal surface of the hook and the surface of the commutator; and 5) ultrasonically welding the hook ends to the lamellas. Variously constructed devices for the execution of the process are also proposed.Type: GrantFiled: June 19, 1990Date of Patent: May 19, 1992Assignee: Stapla Ultraschall-Technik GmbHInventor: Lothar Nuss

Patent number: 4869419Abstract: A method for ultrasonically welding electrical conductors in which the compaction of the electrical conductors carried out in a compaction chamber takes place in two compaction phases, in which the electrical conductors are first compacted substantially in a vertical direction and thereafter both in a vertical and in a horizontal direction, wherein, during the second compaction phase with superimposed movements, the ultrasonic action takes place for welding the electrical conductors. Several forms of embodiment of an apparatus for carrying out this method and modified methods are described, the common feature of which is the mounting of a crosshead (7), displaceably parallel to a sonotrode surface (2), on a second, vertically displaceable anvil part (8), the crosshead (7) being connected with a drive apparatus (19) acting in its direction of displacement.Type: GrantFiled: December 3, 1987Date of Patent: September 26, 1989Assignee: STAPLA Ultraschall-Technik GmbHInventor: Lothar Nuss

Patent number: 4842671Abstract: In an apparatus intended especially for connecting electrical conductors by ultrasonic welding, in which a two-part anvil comprising three working surfaces is associated with a sonotrode for defining a compaction chamber on all sides, the two anvil parts are moveable in two different directions relative to each other and the sonotrode and are each driven by a pneumatic cylinder and piston assembly. To achieve an easily handled apparatus, the two pneumatic cylinders are disposed alongside each other axially parallel to each other and to the central axis of the sonotrode in a housing and act upon transmission elements, which deflect the working movements of the pneumatic pistons through a right angle into the anvil parts. As a result the apparatus has a slender external form of small dimensions and enables a pistol grip handle to be fitted, by a trigger of which the functional parts of the apparatus are controlled.Type: GrantFiled: September 17, 1987Date of Patent: June 27, 1989Assignee: Stapla Ultraschall-Technik GmbHInventor: Lothar Nuss

Patent number: 4646957Abstract: An ultrasonic welding apparatus for electrical conductors comprising strands of wire comprising a sonotrode for generating ultrasonic vibrations and a cooperating anvil having movable side walls to compress the wire strands against the head of the sonotrode. The anvil has two moving parts, one moving back and forth parallel to the fixed sonotrode face, and the other moving up and down normal to the fixed face. The moving parts carry the side walls of the anvil and with the fixed face provide an adjustable space for wires of various sizes, the space having a rectangular cross section. The gap between the moving anvil parts and the adjacent fixed face of the sonotrode are accurately controlled.Type: GrantFiled: February 24, 1986Date of Patent: March 3, 1987Assignee: Stapla Ultraschall-Technik GmbHInventor: Lothar Nuss

Patent number: 4599881Abstract: In a method and an arrangement for winding and forming helixes of elastic synthetic plastic and metal wire the wire is supplied from a wire supply device, windings are then wound from the wire so as to form straight winding legs connected by head curves, the windings are then separated to provide distances therebetween, the separated windings are widened in correspondence with the distances between them produced during the separation and the finished helixes are supplied to a helix supply device.Type: GrantFiled: April 20, 1984Date of Patent: July 15, 1986Assignee: Roda Holding AnstaltInventors: Wolfgang Bachmann, Dieter Spahn, Lothar Nuss
