  • Publication number: 20100253135
Abstract: A brake system for motor vehicles having a brake master cylinder that can be operated by a brake pedal, a fluid reservoir assigned to the brake master cylinder, a hydraulic booster stage which is operatively connected to the inlet side of the brake master cylinder, with a booster piston which is subjected to a hydraulic boost pressure supplied by a pressure source and which in all operating modes allows a direct mechanical action by the brake pedal on a hydraulic piston of the brake master cylinder, and having an electrically controllable pressure regulating valve arrangement for metering the boost pressure. In order to provide a brake system of simple design, which is cost-effective to produce and which functions reliably, the pressure regulating valve arrangement can be hydraulically controllable.

  • Patent number: 7770491
Abstract: It is known in the art to apply a counterforce, which opposes the actuating force, onto an accelerator pedal of a vehicle in the event that the vehicle, with respect to a vehicle parameter, sufficiently deviates from the nominal value. The parameter can be the speed or the measured distance from vehicles driving ahead. The invention discloses a series of embodiments that satisfy especially easily and reliably the defined requirements for applying the counterforce to the pedal.

  • Publication number: 20090033146
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for operating a hydraulic vehicle brake system, having a brake pressure generator operable by a brake actuating device and essentially consisting of a master brake cylinder and a hydraulic booster connected upstream thereof which includes a booster chamber and a booster piston arranged therein, which latter for brake force boosting purposes, can be acted upon by a hydraulic pressure of a high-pressure accumulator that is chargeable by a hydraulic pump according to a sensor system which detects actuation and/or according to a pressure sensor sensing the hydraulic pressure that prevails in the master brake cylinder. In order to provide a safe fallback mode, upon failure of the high-pressure accumulator, the wheel brakes are acted upon by hydraulic pressure of the hydraulic pump according to the sensor system which detects actuation or according to the pressure sensor.

  • Publication number: 20030075005
Abstract: The present invention relates to a pedal assembly for automotive vehicles. The aim of the invention is to prevent the pedal lever (4) from hitting the leg (13) of the driver when a crash occurs, due to displacement of the actuating rod (11) of the brake booster (9). This object is achieved by preventing the pedal lever (4) from rotating in opposition to the direction of actuation. Several measures are proposed to this end. One of said measures consists in exclusively allowing forces to the transmitted in one direction of actuation, which may be effected with the aid of a tie rod (14) that is unable to transmit any pressure forces. Another suggestion aims at mounting the pedal lever on a separately arranged transverse bar (21) rather than on the splashboard (5) as before.

  • Patent number: 6135575
Abstract: An electronically controllable brake actuation system for motor vehicles is proposed, with a master cylinder actuated by means of an actuating pedal, said cylinder with brake pressure transducers driven by an electronic control unit, to which wheel brakes of the motor vehicle are directly connected and which are connectable with the master cylinder by means of hydraulic linkages that can be locked by valve devices, with at least one sensor device to recognize the drivers desired deceleration and also with at least one simulator chamber cooperating with the master cylinder. In order to improve the function of a system of this kind, in particular for ASR control processes, it is proposed through this invention that the valve devices be designed as electromagnetic valves driven by the electronic control unit and that the pressure-volume characteristic of the simulator chamber is independent of that of the wheel brakes.

  • Patent number: 6099086
Abstract: The setpoint generator according to the invention utilizes the information "pedal travel s" in combination with the information "pedal force p" by weighting them in input circuits 4,5 and summing up the corresponding partial setpoints p'.sub.s and p'.sub.p to form a setpoint p'.sub.Hz. Here, a countercurrent weighting takes place: If a small force acts on the pedal, the pedal travel is dominant; as the pedal force is growing, the latter is weighted more heavily. In this way, a smooth brake behavior is attained, whereby the comfort is enhanced and the wear of the employed components is reduced.
