Abstract: A method for the compensation of disturbances upon magnetic measurements on value documents, in which a sensor having several measuring tracks for generating measurement signals is employed, in which for each value document a specified number of data records is generated, the value document not being captured by at least one of the measuring tracks during the measurement, wherein from the measurement signal of the at least one measuring track there is ascertained a value for the quantity of a disturbance present in the region of the sensor during the measurement on the value document, and a compensation of the deviations of the measurement signals of the measuring tracks capturing the value document, which deviations are caused by the disturbance present during the measurement, is carried out by means of said ascertained value for the quantity of the disturbance.

Abstract: The invention relates to a security element for protecting documents of value, which has magnetic material. Furthermore, the invention relates to a document of value, a transfer material and method for producing such security elements and documents of value as well as a method and an apparatus for checking such a security element or document of value. According to the invention the security element has at least two magnetic materials, wherein the magnetic materials have different coercive field strengths and are applied onto and/or incorporated in the security element in such a manner that their remanence is equally high.

Abstract: The method for measuring magnetic properties of sheet material is able to deliver reliable signals at both low and high magnetic particle density in the sheet material. First a measuring head converts the magnetic properties of the sheet material into electric signals. The electric signals produced by the measuring head are amplified in a certain signal range such that the lower-amplitude electric signals produced by the areas with low magnetic particle density of the sheet material are amplified to a greater extent than the electric higher-amplitude signals produced by the areas with high magnetic particle density of the sheet material. For this purpose the signal range is divided into at least three ranges which are each amplified constantly. The amplification in the two outer ranges is selected equal, and the amplification in the middle range greater than the amplification in the outer ranges.
