  • Patent number: 6071164
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing a high-pressure discharge mp, there being provided in the course of the production method a prefabricated discharge vessel (1) in which there is an enclosed ionizable filling, and in which electrodes (E1, E2) are arranged, and which has at least one sealed end (1b) and at least one supply lead (3b) projecting from said sealed end (1b), the at least one sealed end (1b) of the discharge vessel (1) having a tubular extension (1c) in which the at least one supply lead (3b) runs. According to the invention, the production method has the fabrication steps of filling glass shot (6) into the tubular extension (1c), so that the interspace between the at least one supply lead (3b) and the tubular extension (1c) is filled up with glass shot (6), and sealing the tubular extension (1c) by supplying heat.

  • Patent number: 4948530
Abstract: In the method for making a reflective coating at the ends of the discharge essel of a high-pressure discharge lamp, the suspension for making the coating includes from 0.5 to 5% by weight of a highly dispersed pyrogenic silicic acid - aluminum oxide mixture, 0 to 5% by weight of acetic acid, 0 to 1% by weight of boric acid, 24 to 55% by weight of water, and zirconium oxide to make up 100% by weight. By using the novel suspension, the previously required process steps of baking and white-burning can be omitted.

  • Patent number: 4666416
Abstract: The invention resides in apparatus for producing consecutive connections between the interiors (10) of glass lamp bulbs (12) and sources (14) of pressurized gas and/or vacuum (16, 17). The sequence of connecting is governed by the requirements of lamp bulb manufacturing. The pressure sources and/or vacuum sources are connected with channels (50, 52) in a stationary lower slide (38) of a slide system containing an upper slide (36) rotatable in engagement with the lower slide. Disposed in the upper slide are passageways (30, 32, 42, 43) to which the interiors of glass lamp bulbs are connected. Dependent on the position of rotation, the orifices of passageways (30, 32, 42, 43, 50, 52) in the upper and lower slides are aligned at least one of the two slides is provided with a face (60) engaging the other slide. The face is formed from a disc of a ceramic material which is highly resistant to wear and has a low coefficient of friction.
