  • Patent number: 6975232
Abstract: A thermographic infrared apparatus and method for seeing, and thus measuring, a foot inside of a shoe. The apparatus includes one or more thermographic instruments aimed at a base for capturing one or more thermographic images or fields of view of a shoe on the base and thus the heat transferred to the shoe from the foot. The apparatus further includes a display mounted above the base and aimed at the eye level of a person standing on the base such that the person can determine from the thermographic image how well the shoe or shoes fit. The method includes one or more of the steps of taking a thermal infrared image of a shoe on a foot, taking a thermal infrared image of a foot having no shoe thereon, taking a thermal infrared image of a shoe having no foot therein, taking a thermal infrared image from a first direction, taking a thermal infrared image from a second direction to capture surfaces hidden from the first direction, and then comparing one or more of the thermal infrared images.

  • Patent number: 6252519
Abstract: Emergency vehicle signaling system wherein an emergency vehicle transmits an RF signal having a narrow cone calculated to be received in a second vehicle. The receiver for the second vehicle is equipped with an indicator in the form of a white light which blinks in order to alert the driver of the emergency vehicle that the RF signal which it is transmitting has been received by the second vehicle. Accordingly, occupants of the second or non-emergency vehicle are made aware of the presence of the emergency vehicle while the visual indicator confirms reception of the RF signal.

  • Patent number: 6094148
Abstract: An apparatus for detecting vehicular speed monitoring signals and for detecting nearby emergency vehicles includes a first sensor for sensing modulated light from an emergency vehicle warning light and generating an alarm signal in response; a second sensor for sensing an incident vehicular speed monitoring signal and generating a ranging signal in response; and an alarm coupled to the first and second sensors for issuing an alarm in response to generation of any of the ranging signal and the alarm signal.

  • Patent number: 5495243
Abstract: A light activated alarm system for indicating to the occupants of a second vehicle the presence of a first vehicle. The alarm system comprising a photosensitive cell, a receiver circuit and indicators. The photosensitive cell is mounted in one of a variety of locations on the second vehicle, including the rear bumper, the rear window well, the stop light in the rear window well, the roof or the antenna. The photosensitive cell is either silver dollar shaped or an array of preferably five photo cells in a semispherical or box shape. The signal from the photosensitive cell is detected, amplified, filtered and identified by the receiver circuit. When a signal from an activated light source is identified, the receiver circuit generates an indicator signal. The indicator signal activates one or more indicators to alert the occupants of the second vehicle to the presence of the first vehicle.
