  • Patent number: 4128003
Abstract: Apparatus is disclosed which is employed to provide an audible sound at a given repetition rate to enable one to test and calibrate a timing mechanism such as a watch which employs a non-audible frequency source, such as a crystal or quartz oscillator. The apparatus employs a pickup antenna and tuned circuit means which are responsive to the frequency radiated by the oscillator employed in the horological device to be tested. This frequency is processed by means of suitable circuitry to provide an output frequency within the audible range and of a repetition rate consistent with the repetition rate of a prior art mechanical horological device. The output frequency signal is applied to an audio transducer to thus provide an audible signal which is synchronized to the crystal oscillator signal to thereby enable a user to employ a prior art calibration instrument for testing and calibration of the above noted devices.

  • Patent number: 4128316
Abstract: A thin electrochromic display employs a transparent substrate with transparent electrodes and electrochromic material thereon forming actuatable electrochromic segments, a fibrous spacer member adjacent the substrate and impregnated in its central portion with electrolyte in contact with the electrochromic material, and impregnated in its peripheral portions surrounding the central portion with a sealing adherent resin, and a conductive foil member covering the central portion of the carrier and sealed about its periphery by means of the curable resin to the substrate.

  • Patent number: 4128315
Abstract: A thin electrochromic display suitable for manufacture in a continuous process on a backing tape which becomes part of the display. The display is a sandwich structure comprised of a transparent substrate, transparent electrodes having persistent electrochromic material thereon, a solid cationic ion exchange resin electrolyte in contact with the electrochromic material, a conductive metal foil member with electroreactive layer thereon, and an impervious adhesive backing tape adhered to the substrate around the foil member and also covering and adhered to the foil member to seal the display and having an aperture therein for permitting electrical contact to be made with the foil member.

  • Patent number: 4008564
Abstract: A liquid crystal display device comprises a liquid crystal display cell in combination with electronic circuit elements coupled thereto. The liquid crystal cell comprises a layer of a liquid crystal composition between two electrodes having electrode configurations thereon. The circuit elements, which may be in the form of an integrated circuit chip, or discrete elements, or a combination thereof, are mounted on a substrate of the liquid crystal display cell via conductive pads provided on the substrate. The substrate contains a segmented electrode pattern, each segment of which is provided with a lead to an appropriate conductive pad which pads interconnect the segment to one or more circuit elements. A cover or encapsulant may be placed over the liquid crystal display cell or over the entire assembly.
