  • Patent number: 4788781
Abstract: A manipulation element for closing and latching a rear spoiler of boot on the leg of a skier. The manipulation element is journaled on the rear spoiler so that journalling of this element tensions a cable which closes the spoiler on the leg of the skier. The manipulation element comprises a U-shaped lever having an open space therein adapted to receive a second manipulation element which can, for example, lock the heel of the foot in the boot. In this way, two manipulation elements can be positioned on the dorsal zone of the spoiler. In another embodiment, the manipulation element includes two lateral ribs, each having a groove extending along the length of the rib for engaging and protecting the cable.

  • Patent number: 4677768
Abstract: A rear entry ski boot including two flexible tightening elements, one of which tightens the upper of the boot on the lower leg of the skier and the other of which presses the foot downwardly and rearwardly into the boot so as to hold down the foot in the zone of the short perimeter of the heel of the foot. Also provided are two separate and independent manipulation levers, one of which is positioned above the other on the posterior portion of upper. Each lever is journalled around at least one transverse axis and each lever is connected to a different one of the two flexible tightening elements.

  • Patent number: 4672755
Abstract: Latching apparatus and unlatching means for use with a ski boot of the type having a shell base and an upper. The upper is adapted to open to allow for entry of the foot into said ski boot. The latching apparatus has at least two positions, an open position in which the upper is left to open to allow for entry of the foot, and a closed position in which the upper is closed around the lower portion of the leg. The latching apparatus is associated with the unlatching means whereby the unlatching means allows for opening of the latching apparatus without the skier having to bend down.

  • Patent number: 4665635
Abstract: Ski boot comprising an upper (3) at least partly articulated on a shell base (2), a tightener (15) for closing the boot on the foot, and a sliding block (1) attached in eventually demountable manner on the shell base (2), substantially in the region (22, 70) adjacent to the kick zone, the sliding block being constituted of a thin plate whose form corresponds approximately to the curved surface swept by the periphery of the lower edge (25) of the upper subjected to various flexure movements with respect to the shell base.

  • Patent number: 4660300
Abstract: An alpine ski boot (1), the rod of which has a front collar (4) and a rear cap (5) arranged about a common axis (6), and the foot accommodating shell (2) of which houses, in its interior, a tarsal support casing (12). The collar (5) and the cap (6), on the one hand, and the casing (12), on the other hand, are respectively kept in position pressing against a skier's leg and against the kick portion of his foot, with a flexible brace (112) cooperating with an element (26) exerting traction by winding, allowing a phase of rapid approach, then a phase for the adjustment of the pressure applied to the skier's foot and leg.

  • Patent number: 4653204
Abstract: Winding device for adjusting the length and tension of the braces on a rear entry ski boot for tightening the skier's foot and closing the boot shank on the skier's leg. The device comprises a control button turnably mounted on the boot and having an axle offset with respect to its rotation axis, a toothed pinion turnably mounted on the offset axle, and a toothed ring coaxial with the control button and having one tooth more than the pinion. The pinion turns inside the ring. The braces cooperate with winding grooves via anchoring devices carried by the pinion and ring, respectively.

  • Patent number: 4633599
Abstract: A downhill ski boot (1), the upper (3) of which has a front collar (4) and a rear cap (5) placed mutually around an axis (6). The collar (4) and the cap (5) are kept in a position pressing against the skier's leg by tension on a cable (8) which is anchored by one end on the collar (4) or the cap (5) and on its other end on means (19) which allow traction to be applied to it by winding under the action of the elastic solicitation means for the reel in a direction winding up the flexible cable (8) and under the action of manual pulling means (81) allowing additional windup for adjustment of the pressure applied to the skier's leg. This arrangement permits a precise adaptation of the upper (3) of the boot for any leg conformation.

  • Patent number: 4596080
Abstract: A rear-entry ski boot including a rigid shell base and an upper. The upper includes a cuff and a spoiler adapted to pivot between opened and closed positions. Also provided is means for automatically closing the spoiler after the leg is inserted into the boot, in response to pressure from the leg on the boot. The automatic closure means includes a flexible linkage element connected at an attachment point to the cuff, a guide element mounted on the upper and around which at least a portion of the linkage element is wound, a traction element journalled on the spoiler around a journal axis and which is connected to the linkage element, and an elastic apparatus for permanently maintaining a traction force on the linkage element for all positions of the spoiler with respect to the cuff. These elements form a self-latching elbow system which defines a dead point when the guide element, the journal axis and the attachment point are aligned.
