  • Publication number: 20180045344
Abstract: A plumbing apparatus for connecting a tail piece to a waste pipe is provided. The apparatus comprises a body having a top flanged end including an inlet configured for receiving the tail piece, a bottom end having an outlet for receiving the waste pipe, and a channel extending between the inlet and outlet. A seal extends about the channel for forming a watertight seal between the tail piece and the waste pipe. A plate is secured to the top flanged end for securing the apparatus to the floor above the waste pipe, may be removable to facilitate post-installation maintenance, and may have an off-center opening to fit various waste pipe configurations. The apparatus is useful for installing plumbing fixtures such as bathtubs, particularly where there is no access from underneath such as in already built homes.

  • Patent number: 8376243
Abstract: Disclosed is a boiler for providing hot water to a heating system of a building and for simultaneously producing hot domestic water. This boiler comprises a heating tank provided with a water inlet and a water outlet through which water for use in the heating system circulates and an adjacent chamber annexed to the heating tank. This adjacent chamber is in direct communication with the heating tank and containing means for heating the water. The boiler also comprises a heat exchanger provided with a water inlet and a water outlet through which circulates the domestic water. This heat exchanger is made of a plurality of tubular coils of helicoidal shape that are located within the heating tank in order to allow heat transfer between the hot water within the heating tank and the domestic water that circulates within the tubular coils.

  • Patent number: 5165472
Abstract: Disclosed is an improved heat exchanger whose flow rate and heat exchange rate are so improved that it may quickly respond to any demand in a very efficient way. This heat exchanger comprises a tank in which a first fluid may be circulated, this tank having an inlet port and an outlet port for the first fluid, and at least one heat conductive tubular element located within the tank, and in which a second fluid may be circulated in order to exchange heat with the first fluid within the tank, this at least one heat conductive element having ends leading outside the tank. A fluid injector is operatively connected to at least on one of the ports of the tank to generate turbulences and prevent the formation of dead spots within the tank. This injector is preferably in the shape of a loop and provided with a plurality of perforations, the loop extending in a plane parallel to and near one end of the tank.

  • Patent number: 4823452
Abstract: Seam forming apparatus for assembling flexible expansion joint systems of the type used in bridges and roadways and often referred to as strip seals. The expansion joint systems generally include a pair of rigid rails each of which has an involute channel formed therein and a flexible seal gland which is disposed between the rails. The seal gland includes a compressible head section formed along each of its edges which is adapted for being received in the involute channels to form an interlocking seam therewith. The apparatus of the invention includes a rotatable disc having a plurality of spaced-apart teeth about its circumference, the teeth being adapted for engaging a short portion of a shoulder defined by the compressible head. Pushing means are provided which permit the operator of the apparatus to force a short portion of the compressible head into position in the involute channel, thus forming a short portion of the interlocking seam.

  • Patent number: 4614499
Abstract: A simulator, for use with stereoradiographs, as a neurosurgical aid in locating potential paths for the implantation of probes in selected locations of the brain. It has a support, on the top surface of which is mounted a pair of radiographs disposed for stereoscopic viewing. An elongated ruler lies over the stereoradiographs and is movable in translation over them. A pair of transparent flat plotting plates are mounted on the ruler and are slidable therealong. Each plotting plate has a circular hole and a transparent circular disc is rotatable around this hole; a radial line extending from the center of the disc giving a "floating line" in the stereoscopically viewed model to simulate a probe to be implanted in the brain.

  • Patent number: 4414464
Abstract: An electrical water heating device for use in a closed circuit heating system, such as a central heating system, includes a horizontally elongated hollow cylindrical body having a top, bottom and a pair of opposite ends. At least two electric heating elements are mounted opposite to each other on the same horizontal level in the body at both ends thereof and the body has a water outlet and a water inlet centrally located, respectively, in the top and bottom thereof. Two identical T-shaped nozzles are mounted in a symmetrical manner to the inlet and the outlet of the device, respectively, by a short vertical bar of the nozzle. Each nozzle includes elongated closed-end horizontal bar provided with two sets of holes symmetrical with respect to the vertical bar of the nozzle.
