  • Publication number: 20030219237
Abstract: An apparatus and method for digitally duplicating and storing film images. The apparatus has a projection section that includes a low-power, white-light source of illumination and an image receiving section that includes a digital camera with a charge-coupled device. The apparatus also has a tunable liquid crystal filter that is used to produce monochromatic images onto the image receiving section. In operation, light from the illumination section is transmitted through the liquid crystal filter that is operating at a first, predetermined frequency, through the film image and onto the image receiving section for subsequent recordation. Then, the liquid crystal filter is tuned to a second, predetermined frequency and light from the illumination section is again transmitted through the same film image, and recorded. Once the requisite number of monochromatic images are recorded, they are recombined into a single image and transferred to an optical recording medium.

  • Patent number: 4362195
Abstract: An elongated infeed frame supporting a debarking unit has a trailer-like structure so that it is readily portable and can be transported into a logging or debarking area. An off-bearing frame is also portable for easy transportation to the area. Each of the infeed and off-bearing frames has structure providing side loading and unloading, respectively, so as to be worked in a minimum area. Also, each of the two frames has outriggers for selectively supporting them on uneven ground and at desired planes and at desired angles relative to each other. Hold-down and guiding mechanism are provided for efficiently directing the logs into and out of the debarking unit.

  • Patent number: 4103955
Abstract: An elliptical body member formed of a curved bar has an intermediate portion and end portions and has a cut-out therein forming a transverse opening so that the body member can be moved down over a log while disposed crosswise thereto. The intermediate portion and one of the end portions of the body member are substantially in straight line alignment with each other but the other end portion of the body member is curved forwardly in a spiral relation. The body member at the curved end portion has an integral eye thereon to which a pulling line can be connected. Since the eye for the connecting line is at the curved end, the body member will be positioned obliquely relative to the log and bind itself thereon. A rearwardly extending barb is provided on the other end of the body member and penetrates the log when the body member extends in oblique relation to the log. The body member has a gripping handle at approximately the center of gravity between the ends for manual manipulation.
